Yeah, I've seen clips here and there over the years and have usually come away with the impression that it's not as cool as I remember and is cheesier than I remember. I loved it at the time, though. I even had the action figure and dragged my poor mom to the movie. I guess that it was the male role model effect and you had to be a 10yo in the 80s to love it... and still act like a 10yo today to revive it.
Ya I was big into He-Man as a kid and had all the cool stuff like Skull Mt (?) and Stinkor.
My friends and I years later wondered what toxic shit they used to make Stinkor reek so bad that even 30 years later the figure still smelled.
The production quality of children's television is just horrible, generation after generation. Things which are mesmerizing to a kid are like nails on chalkboard to everyone else.
Not too long ago, I was at a bar that for some reason was showing an old episode of Silverhawks. I was just astonished at how low the quality was, even compared to what I remembered.
Old GI Joe and Transformers cartoons are the same way, just dreadful production value.
Couldn’t agree more.
I’ve checked out most of the cartoons I watched as a kid and couldn’t believe how creepy and/or corny they were.
Thundercats, Smurfs, Inspector Gadget (*shiver*), Darkwing Duck, Real Ghostbusters (wtf!).
Thankfully the creepiest one I can’t remember the name - some weird duck or something that lived in a creepy ass castle...he was some kind of creepy super hero I think.
These cartoons were pure nightmare fuel. I’m surprised we didn’t all grow up to be a serial killers.
