If that's the reasoning for TO not getting in this year then Moss should expect that he's not getting in on the first ballot either.

The reason TO didn't get in this year is there are only five slots and more than one player at the same position is difficult. Harrison has been eligible longer and had more support.

You'd think but it isn't and finding one article that may agree doesn't prove anything. If drops and route-running were as much of a concern as you make it out to be...so much to the point that overrides Owens having more yards and TD's...he wouldn't have been thrown to as much as he was. It's a soft argument at best.

I could easily find more supporting evidence, I just didn't feel like it was necessary. These things were pretty obvious issues over the course of his entire career -- so much so that I'm shocked anybody who watched him play would attempt to argue otherwise.

and you're missing the point anyway - I am not saying those things detracted so much that he was a bad player or unworthy of the HOF - I am saying those things are his weaknesses just as Marvin's lack of size/speed/strength were his.

Don't you find it telling that an NFL GM mentioned those two things first as reasons for his team-hopping, without even bringing up his rep as locker room poison?

And again, the more yards/TDs is a non-argument, 1,400 yards in two years would be below-average production for most #2 WRs in football right now.

He hindered his own and his teammates success with his ego. That's a negative and surprise, surprise voters are holding it against him.
How exactly did his ego hinder on field production?

These players are quite able to leave locker room issues in the locker room and play when it's time. On a team of 53 personalities, not everyone is going to get along, and TO's work ethic and drive on the field was never questioned. You never heard about him not running his routes or playing hard, like you did with Moss for example.

I should rephrase that. He hurt a contending team by deciding they were somehow not reverent enough.
He did do that, but he also helped every team he played for at least get to the playoffs and gave them a better chance to win. He didn't take his off field baggage onto it.

And we are talking about the Hall of Fame here, so he didn't get voted in ahead of a guy who did none of those things.

And Harrison has a hell of a resume too, so when looking at why the votes broke one way or the other it might not take much.

I can only speak for myself, but I would value what Harrison apparently did off the field more than Owens' consistent refractory behaviour.

Sure but its very clear TO was the better receiver and Harrison not showing up is all that needs to be said.

I agree. Unfair that their holding TO to a double standard.

but he cellied hard and cried that one time and is very selfish

clearly that negates all of the good ;)

They'll both be in eventually so in the long run it doesn't really matter, it's just stupid he is left out over pettiness (even though I'm big on being petty)

Many of those records aren't particularly noteworthy and/or similar to other. And not only is that TDs against all 32 teams one both, it's also clearly unfair to Harrison.

To be honest, Harrison was the next receiver to go in. They had to let in Carter, Brown and Reed in first it was time for Harrison.

Owens goes in next year, he's basically getting the Roberto Alomar treatment cause he spat on an umpire so he was disqualified for getting in first ballot

These are all very noteworthy

Consecutive seasons with at least 750 receiving yards, 1997-2010 (14)
2nd in Receiving Yards
3rd in TD's
6th In Receptions

But whatever, if they dont like how his irrelevant off-field behaviour was, so be it. they've been letting inferior players in before better ones forever.

Two of those are more or less the exact same thing. And he's tied with Harrison on both.

I'm not even using that as a platform to say Marv is better, I'm saying I really don't care about records like that.
