Interesting.

Marlies and Growlers could use more depth. I don't know about his potential but can't deny that he's been a dominating goaltender at the NCAA level for awhile.

Leafs goalie depth as of right now for next season.

McKay

Hutchinson and Hutton are UFA and I’m assuming are gone. Campbell might be back and then you have an RFA in Scott. Not sure what Pertuzillis AHL deal length is and if they offer him an NHL contract.

Depth wise there is room for McKay to get playing time in the AHL as of right now. Can’t be worse than Hutchinson.

No idea who he is so I’ll reserve my right to celebrate this at a later date.

I doubt McKay is signing here thinking he's the number 4 or 5. He's definitely looked at the depth chart and figures he can challenge for the backup job or at worst the AHL starter.

Hopefully for his sake Briere gets gone and is replaced by the best goalie coach available, politics be damned.

fwiw his university roster lists him at 6'0" not 5'11".

Was going to say he does not look 5’11” on the ice. Bernier was 5’11”. This guy looks closer to 6’0-6’1”.

*nevermind… looks like Bernier is 6’0”.

Which means he's probably 5'10 1/2" - but oh well, look at all the success Saaros is having with Nashville. Sure, you can't teach size, but you also can't teach reflexes or instinct.

Exciting (potential) signing.

Jussi Saros...Maybe Devon Levi...Who cares how big the kid is if the results pan out.

Loved the idea of Gustavsson panning out or Jussi Rynnas panning out because they look the part. But if you can't play the part, it...just...doesn't...matter.

Just checked and this guy is the NCAA D1 record holder of most shutouts (34) which he set this year. Previous record holder had 26 I believe. That’s an insane amount of shutouts.
