It feels so good to have a pipeline of like 6-8 prospects that have a legitimate chance to make an impact at the NHL level. Dubas has done an amazing job of finding talent in the two years he has had complete control over this process.

I remember the days when we had to hope that prospects like Andrew MacWilliam and Fabrice Herzog were going to pan out.

What's actually crazy is that the number of guys might be closer to double what you've said. The drafting in the last 3 years (plus the 1st round 2017) has been insane.

Rough PP for Miettinen. Two failed zone entries, and although the 3rd one was successful, he pass completely missed the defenseman and the puck went all the way behind his own net.

He was on for the GA. Not his fault, but he was the only player not below the circles.

I curse him clearly. I've watched GM 1, 2, and now 4.

That was some ugly hockey from both teams. Really choppy and no flow.
Miettinen easily had his worst period in College so far. No room to move and couldn't complete a pass.

Better period by Miettinen. Had a few good chances.

I bet if I stopped watching he'd put up a couple points in the 3rd.

Naw, st cloud is getting suffocated. The 0-3 team decides to outwork the 3-0 team (although st cloud isn’t as good as their record).

Man that was a boring game. Miettinen had a couple good shifts in the second period and had some good chances. Other than that it was imo his worst game so far.

In the third he barely even was in the defensive zone, just kept cheating for offense.

These announcers just love Koster. They said one of the biggest assets he has brought is his ability to get shots through. Also said he hasn't had to play huge minutes, but with the absenses these last 2 games, he's been elevated and been marvenlous.

They said he is the pro to typical modern day d man, move the puck, defend with your feet.

Beauty shot post in top left corner. Koster really excites me. He really needs to gain that man strength but his brains and skating abilities is so so good.

Also said they talked to an analyst who said he has "video game" level skills.

His HS coach said his skills are video game like in his ability to do whatever he wants with the puck. Specially with his skating. They also said he's not only done great in the big minutes these two games, he has excelled. And I would agree with their assessments.

I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a defensive prospect since maybe Jake Gardiner but Jake had a stellar NCAA career and AHL career. I hope Koster keeps this up and continues to develop. Maybe get lucky and add a couple of inches to his height and get stronger. We have a legitimate NHL calibre talent and a guy who can potentially be an impactful top 4 guy at that. Exciting times to be a Leafs fan. Kudos to Dubas and his crew. He doesn't pick those lumbering big players who can't skate or play skillful hockey.

More important than Koster, how have Kent Johnson, Beniers, and Power played?

Joe Miller will be joining Koster next year too, so maybe he will look good next year as well.

Yeah I just edited the post with the tweet. I didn't realize how good he is especially defensively.
Again a nice period from him, great defence in transition where he then carried the puck that lead to a decent chance. Been more active offensively as well today. The shot was a beauty though. Right on the corner and it was past the goalie before he reacted.

It's why you draft talent and transfersble skills. They will get you to the NHL. Not size.

I know he's gonna lose his role when his teammates come back from the WJC, but from the games I've watched he has clearly the most positive impact of any of them. This guy should not be a bottom-pairing PP specialist.

That includes three guys on the defense of U20 USA, one a first round pick, and two 2nd rounders.
