Continue here.

Btw, food for thought: Domi, Dannault and Gallagher are all coming to the end of their deals in the next two seasons. They're all going to want to get paid.

''It's just the beginning of the season ffs''

''Let's wait until the TDL''

Pay Domi + Gally. Trade Danault for something nice, since we'll be set in center (Kotkaniemi, Domi, Poehling, Suzuki?, Duchene?).

Domi outproduced him last year and at a fraction of what Duchene's going to want. And this was the best year Duchene's had since the 2014 season.

Even if you think Duchene's better than everyone we have, he's not THAT much better. We're way better off just extending the guys we have at a decent rate. Adding Duchene at 9 means those other guys are going to want big coin as well. And again, he doesn't really fill a need for us either.

Let’s see.
Better than Tatar? Check
Better than Drouin? Check
Better than Gally? Check
Better then Shaw? Check
Better than Danault? Check
Better than KK? Check
Better than Byron? Check

Yeah, I mean why would anyone wants this scrub??

4.2 million better than Tatar? No.
3.5 million better than Drouin? Maybe.
5.2 million better than Gallagher? No.
5 million better than Shaw? Maybe.
6 million better than Dannault? No.
8 million better than KK? No.
5.6 million better than Bryon? No.

If he can finish the scrap plays that Gallagher, Armia and Tatar start (because let's face it, very few on that team can shoot anywhere other than goalie's chest) he is worth the coin. And I am not worried about Molson's bank account.

So pay less for less. Sounds like a great way to win! So when Domi asks for a bigger contract we cut him loose? Same for KK, Gally, Danault. I guess we’re better carrying $10M in cap in perpetuity. Wouldn’t want to waste it.

Also, KK is closer to $3M on the cap, it $1M

When Charles Hudon receives a qualification offer....you know that stability is key...lol

There is absolutely no reason to have done this. None whatsoever. It doesn't make any sense for both parties.

Throwing millions left and right for players we don't actually need.....but for god's sake don't overpay a real top player by 1 or 2 millions.

Bergevin at work.

I think I saw Hudon cross himself when he scored a goal however long ago that happened... is that in line with Quebec's new religious bill thing that everyone's squirming about?

That's not how it works though. We have cap space - what we're missing is talent. You can always trade bad contracts away in a few years if need be. Need top end talent to win.

It's time to take a risk in free agency with a top player. Tavares would have been nice - Karlsson even better. I'm willing to go for Duchene.

Who do you mean? I think Bergevin was willing to overpay Stamkos and Tavares quite drastically past few years - I can only imagine Karlsson too.
I don't think the reasons we haven't landed a top free agent is because we aren't offering enough.

I suppose if your comment is about Radulov that's fine. I still don't blame Bergevin too much on that one

Many of Bergevin's supporters have told us not to pay attention to what he says in interviews and press conferences.

I'm not sure how to take that comment. He certainly at times acts cocky and sure of himself in press conferences.

Are you saying Bergevin wouldn't have paid top $$ to those players? Not sure I follow if not.
