Craig Button has a couple videos up on TSN talking about Perfetti and Rossi. He compared their style of play to Panarin and Backstrom respectively.

10 picks last yer, 14 picks this year, 11 next year....we need to get quality over quantity at this point.

Either a: trade picks to move up in the draft or b: trade picks to next years (1, 2, 3) to offset the loss of picks is he can pull off an offer sheet.
Berg is playing penny slots.....

I tinker with my trait titles as well, but Buttons this year don’t make a ton of sense. Skating, hockey sense (IQ), compete are standard, but your last two are scoring and shot? Really?

speaking of titling traits, considering changing “compete” to “scrappiness” to give me 5 Ss: size, skating, sense, and skill are the others for me. I actually divide each of those into 2 subsets:

Size (length/strength)
Skating (speed/agility)
Sense (playmaking/IQ)
Skill (hands/shot)
Compete (effort/edge)

I do like Button though. I respect the guys who do their own work and stick to their guns and avoid the group think so many fall victim to.

I really miss the playoffs. The 2013-2015 playoffs were a lot of fun. I miss that team. Subban won a Norris. Price won the Hart. We went to the ECF. We won our division twice. Good times.

Those teams were fun to watch. The 2015 season was such a waste though. Bergevin had Price on a historic run and a team that needed goal scoring to help him. All he did to help that was add Mitchell and Flynn. We got Petry but we should have added another scorer. Same thing in 2017, the team was a top of the division and lacked scoring problems so Bergevin goes out and adds Ott and King and Martinsen.

Bergevin is too conservative in instances when we need to be aggressive. Trading picks and prospects is always a gamble but staying pat is too considering how ee watched so many of our prospects during that 2014-2017 period bust. Its why I lack confidence in Bergevin actually managing this team amd doing what is needed when we are actually ready to contend.

And that is why his trade record doesn't look bad. Like in poker, if you never take risks, you'll rarely lose out, but you'll also rarely get the big pot. You'll also be highly predictable. Conservative players are the easiest to play against, because you know they'll only bet if they have something strong on the table, so you can push them off most pots.

Want proof of this? Go to a big US city's casino's low end tables after 1st of the month, you'll make a killing by using table position to push early into each pot.

What else is he going to say? The fact that hes still around doesn't bode well for Habs fans that actually want to see this franchise compete for a cup and not just compete for the playoffs. 2 more offseason and 2 more seasons of this numbskull before hopefully his contract expires and they go another way.

I do get a chuckle at the use of 'experienced'. Of course he is. He's been kept on years past his due date by the same man who's calling him 'experienced'. How am I suppose to take this comment seriously? His only experience is with your team.

I'd be an experienced CEO too if someone hired me and refused to fire me despite consistently failing to meet ANY of my objectives.

I won't. It hurts that my son is now starting to recognize sports and I refuse to show him the Habs. I don't even know what I am doing here...

Some time ago I hypothesized that Geoff Molson does not see he is shooting himself in the foot in terms of assuring long term continuity for the brand, as the next generation of Habs fans might become much smaller with so many of our generation becoming apathetic to what this team has become. We just won't transmit the passion of it. His financial success comes off riding the coat tails of the team's rich history and the last generation of habs fans who've witnessed a cup as youngsters. If he doesn't right the ship and ownership doesn't change their top priority of profit, the next generation of habs fans will be pale in comparison to those of its glorious past.

I already see it with my nephews who like players more than teams. The Habs brand of continued success and championships is gone. 27 years and counting. Talk of the glory days is over.
