1. Petry is traded by December
2. Hall will finish top 3 in scoring, RNH top 10 (BOLD)
3. Yakupov will have a strong season- 55 points
4. Yakimov plays 9 games, get sent down, comes up before deadline and plays lights out
5. Oilers will be fighting for a playoff spot until the end, end up missing by a few points finishing 9th/10th

All in all I definitely feel we will improve, our defence looks NHL calibre.

Arcobello doesn't last three months on the Oilers

Yakimov gets called up

Justin Schultz looks way better not playing minutes outside of his comfort zone.

Hopkins has a career year.

Oil fans go crazy because we've got so many good d prospects in the system who'll never see an NHL game because they're not good enough to push guys out of our current top 4.

1) Petry will no longer be an Oiler before the trade deadline, and this will be a mistake
2) RNH will surpass Hall in points this year, both being top-10 producers
3) Klefbom will not start the season on the Oilers, but he will finish on the team
4) Purcell will show flashes of ability where he looks like a godsend, but will wind up turning into bigger Gagner
5) Gagner will look like a better player by the second half of the season in Arizona, but will not score more than 45 points

5) MacTavish becomes coach and GM after a sub par first half of the year.

4. Schultz breaks out for a big year
5. Oilers make playoffs barely

Other
1. Vancouver and Edmonton end the year within 4 points of each other
2. Colorado finishes 20th in the NHL
3. Columbus finishes top 4 in the East, go to second round

1. Draisaitl and Arcobello start with the Oilers.. After 10 ish games Arco goes down, Yakimov comes up and sticks.

2. Kevin Quinn mixes up Yakimov and Yakupov at least three times every game by calling them Bogdan Yakupov or Nail Yakimov or just flat out doesn't realize which one it is.

3. Nugent-Hopkins hits 75 points, Hall 85.

4. Petry traded at the deadline due to Schultz's emergence and the contract situation.

5. Oilers eliminated from playoffs in the last few days of the season by Dallas/Colorado. (win the draft lottery)

1) Hall will get more than 85 points
2) Nuge will breakout and score more than 65 points
3) Purcell's offense is a huge disappointment and he becomes our new whipping boy
4) Scrivens proves to critics that he is a #1 goalie
5) Justin Schultz takes the next step and improves his defensive game while also scoring 45-55 points

Hm: Draisaitl proves to be a good 2C

Hmm, this sounds like fun

1. Arco and LD will start the season. LD is sent back at 9 games when MacT trades for a center using a top defense prospect
2. the Oilers will do okay till the start of Christmas, and then go into a talespin for January. By February, they will be out of the playoff picture
3. Trade deadline, Petry or JSchultz (if he doesn't perform to expectations) or both will be traded depending on performance for a Center as the team finishes their changes to reboot the team that MacT started when he took over. Arco will be sent back to the AHL, and Boggy (Yak2) and Klefblom will be called up and stick with the club
4. RNH and Hall will have career years, but not as much as everyone thinks. Ebs will not, but be close. The second line will almost out perform the first, but Yak will stay stuck on the 3rd line and not be able to generate as much as he will be by himself. he will do far better after the trade deadline, as he will get a proper center to play with.
5. Oilers end up 20-22 overall, with goals for slightly better, and goals against down, but there will be still a negative difference. Eakins will get fired when the season is over as the Orgs designated scapegoat for the year, though the team shows improvement at the last 10 games of the season

Dear god if you are right about that one I will cheer for the Sens. Unless it's Eberle and the return is fantastic.

I predict that:

1) Leon Draisaitl plays his 9 game stint and the Oilers are already out of the playoff race so they send him down to junior.
2) Oscar Klefbom is the first call-up on D and impresses mightily, sticking with the Oilers the rest of the season.
3) Tyler Pitlick provides some edge and forechecking presence on the fourth line and finally looks like an NHL player. Plays 40 games.
4) Viktor Fasth and Ben Scrivens provide the most stable goaltending the Oilers have seen since Dwayne Roloson. (Remember the year Jeff Deslauries played 48 games? We'll be saying that about Dubnyk soon I bet)
5) Ales Hemsky scores a hat trick in his return to Edmonton.

Bonus prediction: Sportsnet horribly botches their first year of national NHL coverage and we all miss Bob McKenzie's presence so much that we tape a photo of him next to our TV.

If they get solid tending, there's a very slim chance they botch the first 9 games

1) JTS will be wrong with his predictions yet again.
2) oilersfan11 will post McDavid pictures after every loss, probably even after some of the wins too.
3) Replacement will have a contrarian opinion.
4) Del Preston will post awesome gifs.
5) Tad Mikowsky will complain about posters complaining telling them that if they don't like the way Oilers are playing that they should just stop being a fan.

Oops, you meant Oiler predictions.

1. Mact trades Yakupov for Gagner, with the faint hope that Oiler fans will have someone to hate more than himself.

2. Dallas Eakins challenges a jersey thrower to a fistfight, loses, and removes all hot dogs, hamburgers and pizza from the concessions, replacing them with green smoothies, kale and tofu.

3. Bob Stauffer finally snaps, and tells everyone what he really thinks about the team, management, and Jack Michaels, is fired, and gets a job doing pbp for the Georgia Bulldogs.

4. Sam Gagner trademarks the name "Snowpants", and quits hockey after earning millions in the bitcoin market.

5. JTS loses his password, creates a new account and becomes STD, and infects HF Boards with an irritating but benign virus. Starts a new "who are you" thread where he claims to have played LW for the Prince George Cougars with Eric Brewer.
