Well there's only two positions in this trade, they downgrade at but it's safe to say Hanifin and Hamonic are better than Barrie is at the moment.

Odd, he is. The base of the trade is
Monahan+hanafin+bennett for Matthews and Kapanen. I get why leafs fans aren't interested, but the value is close imo

There's exactly one player in the NHL I'd trade Matthews for. That player doesn't play for Calgary either. Leafs obviously would decline this. You simply don't trade away players like Matthews, especially when they're only 22 and just entering their prime. Teams wait more than a decade to draft a player like that.
