Ya youre probably right. I would bet that weight might not be exactlty right though.

I think it was going off last seasons numbers so he might have put on a few kg

I'm not sure putting on weight would help him anyway, he's fast skilled and evasive, I think maximising that area of his game could be what gets him to the NHL level rather than trying to become something he's not

I'm going to wait to see how he translates to the AHL level next season before I get too excited about him. Overagers are usually a bit behind the curve, so you'd have to be really good to be excited about it. He has been really good, fortunately.

Looks like a good pick for a 4th so far, but the hype train stays in the station until he produces in the AHL. Hope he turns into our own Spurgeon though!

Yeah, and did you watch Babcock's presser after the game?

Undersized guys can make it but let's not pretend it's easy for a guy that size to defend at the NHL level, that's why we can name the likes of Krug off the top of our heads

There's not that many good ones at the NHL level

Ok sure thing..he was talking about the 4th line. And who cares we signed him meaning we think he has a shot

I don't mind people pumping the kids tyres, he's had a great year but having doubts about him are fair Walshy

He's an overager, from what I understand he's a rover who leads the rush rather than play like your usual pro defensive type and I've heard he's a bit "exciting" in his own zone

I don't care about size but those other things make me more willing to withhold judgement until he gets into the pros and we see how his game translates

To me his size almost completely motivates the overager part. The prototypical overager in jnr to me is a guy who is 6’ or taller who has learned to use his body. 5’10 gives him very little advantage imo

Big shot for a little guy. I would be shocked if his offense doesn't at least carry to the AHL. The concern with him will be reigning in his attacking so he is more than just a pp specialist.

Sure, I hope he makes
I'm just being realistic about his chances and challenges

I get it. But the game has changed a lot. Jonas Siegel even had our old school 4th line height and weight vs now

Orr Bodie McLaren avg height 6foot4 avg weight 225lbs

Moore Petan Ennis avg height 510 avg weight 175lbs

And look at marner 6foot and 175lbs holy lol hes bigger than patty lane now. Either way point is, if this guy has enough speed and skill size doesn't matter. He is obviously an offensive d man, listed at smart and creative

All I was saying, and said it when we traded durzi, is his play bumped him up our depth chart so it made durzi easier to part with

Hmmm that's interesting, Mac and Rasmus Sandin were old Sioux D partners.

Experience counts, he's 21 in 6 months, if your playing against teenagers at that age you do have an advantage that they don't have and development years that they haven't hit yet

When he's playing pro against pro sized men were going to get a much better read on him and his game, at that size defending a Matthews size forward takes some not insignificant abilities

Those guys are forwards, besides Spurgen and Krug it's not that easy listing off guys 5'10 and under playing consistent bottom pair minutes let alone top 4

He can certainly make it but his defensive game in the pro ranks will decide what he is, he won't get consistent minutes until he can prove that at least so I'm withholding judgement until then

Well let's see how he does vs men next year in the AHL if he can do anything close to Sandin we are money.

Also he had 56pts last year as a 19yr old. D take longer to develop as a standard anyway

Hollowell didn't make anyone expendable.

Ok so you have this guy named Durzi he was first o D depth prior to season outside the AHL then Mac shows he may well be better. I'm saying his playdate DURZI ok to part with.

Muzzin made Durzi expendable.

Nice to see that Hollowell's having a nice showing early on, though - His toolset really intrigued me at the Draft, and I'm excited to see how he develops at the pro level.

Ok lol no one is understanding. When that deal was made I believe if Mac wasnt doing what he is doing this year Dubas doesn't trade Sean he trades someone else that LA liked. Now if Durzi had been at least in the AHL I'd agree. But w.e. this Hollowell kid looks real damn good

Muzzin, while looking from time to time like he's still adjusting to our style of game, has been playing like a top-pairing defenseman this year - I think Dubas was always going to be comfortable giving up a Durzi in the package for him.
