There is no goalie controversy between Lundqvist and Raanta, but talking about how much Lundqvist is declining is not just an overreaction. He has declined, if we want to use his play over a long stretch as a barometer, and he seems to be declining fast.

Lundqvist has declined a little bit and New York did some great pro scouting on Raanta to bring in a starter quality goalie (maybe) to counteract that decline. These games off will do the King good come April.

I have to laugh at those calling Hank overrated. He was in the top 6 in Vezina voting for 10 straight years (05/06 - 14/15). I'd take that over a one-hit-wonder any day of the week.

Yeah but he's not playing well at the moment so he's confirmed a hot garbage bust (even for a 205th overall pick). All of that has been negated.

I've always found that aspect of HF interesting... Unproven prospect? Worth his weight in gold. Proven vet hitting a rough patch? Worthless and overpaid.

Vezina voting is greatly skewed because Sather voted Lundqvist as 1st place multiple years when he did not deserve it. That allowed him to jump up 3-4 spots because of the weighting and the dominance of top-2 goaltenders most seasons. End of the year All-star is a better indicator... and more sobering.

He's been top 5 - 5 times or 45% of the seasons he starts.

Did Lundqvist kill your dog or something? Why the hate?

Oooo controversy. Is Hank on the decline? He got lit up in the playoffs pretty bad last year I thought the Rangers were going to be in the cup finals. Maybe this season will be the one?

Like all awards voted on by writers, this doesn't mean as much as some like to think

This was exemplified the year that Ovechkin was on both the 1st and 2nd ASTs because voters literally didn't know what position the guy they are voting as the "best at his position" plays

Again, there was a info e-mail sent to vote according to positions in nhl site. By the time the e-mail was sent a lot of ballots had been sent out.

People cling on to these myths like drowning man on to a piece of board. "No hit rule" etc.

He wasent elite last year, he hasent been good this year. He isnt terrible and likely wont be terrible the rest of the year. However, if people are thinking he is or will be elite for a significant stretch ever again are likely mistaken. Its just odds.

I am one of those that honestly has felt like Hank has been a bit overrated for the past few years tbh, he isn't a mediocre goalie as far as nhl starters go but definitely hasn't been as good as many want to believe in the past 2/3 seasons prior.

Is that...not good? When you said he's not God, did you simply mean that literally?

Lundvist had one of the best 5-5 save % last year, and faced way more scoring chances than anyone else. He will find his game and be dominant.

You didn't respond when I challenged your statement with facts and now you just repeat the same post over again. Why are some people so afraid of facts? :shakehead
