In Montreal, I know a couple of city arenas that have free open hockey, compliments of the tax payer. Sharpening is typically $5 but where I get them sharpened they sell a card for 10 sharpenings for $35.
I make 2x in Montana compared to what I made in Ohio
Columbus OH. Keep in mind there is ONE company that runs the rinks in town (The Chiller), so they have a monopoly on it. One company, 8 sheets of ice. You can skate at Ohio State for some things like Public Skate, but there are no public leagues or Drop In's there:
Drop In (1.5 - 2 hours): $10, goalies are free
Stick & Puck (no games allowed, 1 hour): $15
Skate Sharpening: $5
League Play: Depends on how many players, but it averages out to about $20 a game
When I was in NYC it was:
$15 for a sharpening (from West Side Skate)
$600 to rent the ice for an hour and 20 min.
$25-$35 for open hockey (between City Ice and Chelsea)
$15 for stick and puck
NSW, Australia
Drop in - $15
2hr stick and puck session - $15
clinic - $15-$25, depending on skill level
private lessons - $20 for a half hour
Skate sharpening - $8
Summer comp - 12 games for $285
Travel/rep hockey - 15 games for $540
Ice hockey NSW registration - $235
Prices are higher in bigger cities, eg Melbourne. Some inner city rinks will also charge you for a skate fitting, eff that.
Wow do you NYC guys get f'd over...
