Cole lead the Stars in hits I believe over Roussel which is impressive.
Kenny really surprised me by trading for a physical player but he can score also well so that explains it.
Like to see him play on same line with the young Sheahan.
Looking forward to see him paste fools

I think this where we all hope Mule gets healthy. Like him or not, he'd be more valuable than Pulks on the third line. Our depth would be filthy.

He can still put up 15-20G...

I cannot understand the hate for Andersson. Whenever I watch a DRW game he is usually pretty good. A good defensive forward, maybe a bit slow of course, but he's a fourth liner / PK specialist so...

And I think Jurco is overrated.

Jurco's effort is just not paying off yet and he's not much of a help. Right now, he's still on the bottom of the hierarchy. But he'll be an important player soon enough, give him some time.

Yep. No one remembers those great positionings and blocked shots anymore he sacrificed his body against Shea Weber on our last huge win. And also his assist for Smith's 1-0 goal was great.

I think Holland saw the kids disappear in these last playoffs and was hoping to see them learn from it. And then they disappeared again in the LA game. So I think he and Babcock are on the same page with addressing that issue by getting a player like Cole.

Other than that 1 game, kids have looked great.

I think they wanted a big body that plays a north-south game and drives the net. Especially with Franzens availability questionable. It's an element not well represented on the team.

LA can make almost any player disappear against them.

Not just the LA game, it's been a bit of a subtle concern to me all year that the kids rarely break through against the best teams. Especially 5-on-5. Holland appears to think Cole will play with Abdelkader and Zetterberg and that could be a pretty difficult line to play against in the playoffs. The less we have to lean on Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco, Pulkkinen etc. the better.

He's been a little better recently but he has no offensive skill to speak off. He's worse than Miller and Glendenning offensively. When the puck is on his stick in the offensive zone, I expect him to turn it over almost every time. He probably has the weakest shot on the team as well.

Are we really expecting offensive skills from our 4th line center/left winger? His job is to be good on the PK and win faceoffs.

The kids did pretty well against Chicago, San Jose, and Nashville on this most recent road trip. They did poorly against Montreal and LA. In other words, we win when our depth plays well. News at 11.

For now, it's not a big deal. In the playoffs, depth wins out. Andersson should not be on a fully healthy roster when we have much better options.

Depends on the goal. I think Babcock likes having two face off options on the 4th line. But then again, Andersson barely played early on. I think the lines will look like this:

Cole - Zetterberg - Abdelkader
Helm - Datsyuk - Tatar
Nyquist - Sheahan - Jurco/Weiss
Weiss/Jurco - Glendenning - Miller

I never understood that philosophy. If a fourth line full of minimum wage players can go up against other teams' scoring lines and end every shift with 0 gf and 0 ga, that to me is success. If they're good enough defensively, I couldn't care the slightest bit if they never score a single goal. We have 3 other lines that can do that, and the point of the 4th is to give them better matchups and make it easier on them.

Controlling possession is a big part of stopping the other teams from scoring. Andersson is pretty bad at holding onto the puck. Depth is what wins. If there's a better option to replace Andersson that has some offensive skill, you put him in. And we do have that option when we're healthy.

He's not great at possession and what's worse is he's a terrible hound as well. That's what irks me about him. 4th line guys often don't have great possession numbers by nature of their role but you need to be able to put the pressure on the opposition if you don't have the puck. Andy doesn't (or physically can't) do an effective job of that. He's great positionally but that's about it. Nice gap control. He's not giving you anything else and he is a peach to play against most of the time.

Lines:
Jurco-Datsyuk-Tatar
Abdelkader-Zetterberg-Cole
Weiss-Sheahan-Nyquist
Miller-Andersson-Glendening
Cleary rotating in.

Jurco on the top line and Zetterberg back in the lineup? Nice.

Like the 3rd line, mix of grit, cycling and scoring.
