He can finally come home where lewa would easily score these for him.

Messi become not only the top scorer in the top 5 leagues… but also the most decorated footballer alongside Alves (for now)… still on his to do list before retirement is another copa, la Liga, CL, balon dor and highly likely WC. Then he has my permission to retire.

No heart for this PSG team, losing the last game in front of the home support 2-3 against Clermont.

Also Auxerre can't beat Lens at home in the last game, while Nantes beat Angers, so they go down. A bit of too little too late from them.

Radu who saved Auxerre's ass multiple times this year is directly guilty for two goals in the last game of the season. Terrible for him.

Monaco won't be in Europe next year. Well deserved.
PSG ridiculous.
Wahi and Balogun scoring for their respective last games.

Auxerre learning the hard way, as did Inter a while back, why you don't start Radu in big games. Problem with his is between the ears, just not a big game goalkeeper. That being said, even without his two mistakes, Auxerre would have still been relegated.

Then and there
Glad to see Nantes staying up. Wouldn't mind Auxerre either, but it wasn't possible for both of them.

Clermont Foot being able to stay up again is impressive. Another small club Lorient, who didn't achieve anything before this millienium, also continue their top dvision stint comfortably.

So, Mbappe already won his 5th consecutive scoring title, tying Papin for the record.

Clément was going to be fired even with a Europa League spot.
He's been really bad.
He finished 19 points behind Lens with double the quality on his roster.

Yeah just heard the news.
Well tbh Lens had 84 pts, and finished 1 pt behind PSG. Don't think that was realistic for Monaco. But yeah should have done better.

What will happen with the abandoned Bordeaux match? Will it be finished later?

And do Bordeaux still have a chance to be promoted, if they win that match and end up level with Metz? What's the criteria between those two teams or do they have a promotion play-off?

Either way, one of the relegated teams from last season will be back immedately, but the third relegated club St.Etienne was nowhere near being promoted, finishing in midtable.

Especially given he was really good for them in the league at age 35.

Well yeah. Simply stated, just look at the prior two fixtures to the final fixture. Match-winning goal and match-winning assist. Very clear they don’t win the league without him.

The clowning is thinking you guys know better that the guys in the stadium every week.
While I wouldn't boo Messi because of his wonderful career (and also I simply don't like harassing players), the PSG fans have every right to feel used.
Messi was only interested in getting into form for the WC and cashing some money. Anything else was secondary for him.
His behaviour on the pitch was telling.
You guys keep on pretending with highlights like Mbappe missing an easy Messi assist but Messi's missed plenty too. Heck he missed an easy Mbappe assist in this game too.

Overall the Messi experiment was a success from August to November of his second season. Given his salary and his behaviour (leaving training early, flying to Saudi Arabia, etc...) that's not enough.

I think this is a fair assessment.

Messi's the GOAT, sure - but in the last 2 years he had half a dozen big games, and they all came in the WC. All the other "most important" games, he was definitely not up to his usual self - last season vs Madrid and this season vs Bayern. Hell, even in the Cup vs Marseille - Tudor basically said Marseille could press like lunatics because no Mbappe meant no punishment (same teams played later but with Mbappe on the pitch, and he destroyed them).

Him being the GOAT doesn't make him immune to criticism, especially since I imagine PSG fans don't care one bit for his prior accomplishments - in the PSG shirt, he really did the bare minimum for how good he is. And we can make up excuses, and he was playmaking etc etc.... but Lionel MFing Messi scoring 6 goals in his first PSG season really isn't what people were expecting.
