Avengers Infinity War has been my all time favourite movie!!! It's rare for a movie that made me feel all the emotions happy, sad, angry, nervous it made me laugh, cry and had me at the edge of my seat. I don't throw words around so easy but when I mean "epic" this movie was beyond "epic"!!! Marvel has revolutionized film making and this is something that prolly won't happen again on this scale!!! Unfortunately my former fave movie Pulp Fiction had been knocked down to second fave lol

No it is not, but your post certainly is. Don't throw stones from a glass house.

Mine is an observational fact. I looked at a lot of reviews and conmments and people are only complaining about the Black guy, not about the Wasps. That's the case in general.

Did anyone complain about Russel Crowe in Gladiator?

No.

But for sure if an Asian person had been cast for that role we'd have never heard the end of it.
Yeah I always wondered why they called him Spaniard when he clearly wasn't? But that... that was a long time ago!

It's slow and twisted. Makes for great watching on a winter day.

Now ... not so much. However, if you know what's good for you, always listen to your wife. :wg:

I watched The invitation yesterday, what a good movie. Its super eerie but also really keeps you interested.... is the main character going crazy, is it all in his head? Is it real?

It was an epic movie. With a few bad and a few great parts. Wouldnt say its my favorite movie, i liked Thor Ragnarok more in the MCU

I have enough on my plate just dealing with my wife, so no, I'm not playing someone else's wife with a burner account.

I'd rather watch The Americans than The Handmaid's Tale.

I am a big Americans fan.

I thought the finale was okay. I didn’t expect every loose end tied up, and winners and losers etc. I didn’t expect a shootout, it wouldn’t have been fitting.

I didn’t really buy the scene in the garage. Felt a little too pat.

It was a great series though. Glad FX gave it six years. I think this season would have been better at 13 episodes.
I think that Stan did the mental arithmetic and decided it wasn't worth it. He had to suspect that at least two if not all three of them were armed and that a shootout would end badly for everyone. I think he also knew that he probably didn't have it in him to blow away people who he considered his best friends, even though he was irate at being thoroughly played by them for years. It was enough that he knew and that he had figured it out and by this point they had been discovered and all they were going to do now was run away. They weren't going to perform any additional acts of espionage. I think that Phillip's line about how, like Stan, he was "just a guy doing his job" resonated with Stan. They were both professionals who would have done the same things if their roles were reversed and they both knew it.

And while he may have said that he didn't care if Gorbachev was deposed or not, he knew that a coup in Moscow would have bad consequences for the world. He also figured out that if hard-line elements of the KGB wanted to get rid of Gorbachev then him being in power must be good for American interests. The Jennings' were the only ones who could make sure the coup attempt was foiled once Oleg was captured so in a way he was acting in his country's best interests by allowing them to escape. Besides, letting them go didn't guarantee that they'd make it. There was a nationwide manhunt on for them by now so it's not like he was driving them to the Canadian border.

By the way, did anyone catch on to the continuity error when the PA announcer on the train as it was pulling away from Rouses Point said "Next stop, Windsor Station, Montreal" instead of "Central Station" where the Amtrak actually goes?

My biggest regret is that a show called "The Americans" and set in the 1980's never found a way to work this song into one of their episodes:

My brother highly recommended it to me but I've yet to watch it (don't want to give the wife any ideas, lol) He likes it in large part because the series is filmed in Toronto and so does he so he recognizes a lot of the exterior locations.

What also played in Stan’s mind was how he was going to be stepdad to Philip’s son who Stan was fond of. Imagine Stan having to tell the young man how he had to shoot his family or cause them to be arrested.

Overall I thought the show did a good job with 80s stuff.

Amtrak switched the Adirondack to Central in 1986, so they didn’t miss it by much. Possibly someone was going off personal experience.

Good catch.

is Denko the gentleman who dismembered his victims? if so, yeah, tough to pull off on TV.
Even if they decided to go there, the special effects would likely end up being on the comical side. :tvhappy:

Yes... and I know that's the reason they didnt put him on the show, although those funny moments between Dex and Doakes in the book in the aftermath of Danko would've been epic.

Although, it's not just the dismembering that would've been shocking. Danko doesn't kill his victims. He robs them of their humanity and let's them live. Not sure we've ever seen this in a TV series. A bit too hardcore for TV networks.

It just so happens that I took an Amtrak from Montreal to DC (via NYC) back in August of 1987.

Solo was so meh it’s unresl
Brought nothing new to the Star Wars universe
Did we really need to know what Han did when he was young?? And not really introducing Jabba into this movie made no sense.
We don’t need a solo trilogy
This and the last Jedi were so disappointing
Here’s hoping episode 9 can ramp it up again

Wasn't the fictive character Maximus supposed to be from Spain?

Edit: There were quit many Romans that came from the suburbs and Pax Romana reached a lot of countries! :)

My condolences.
Meh, it was okay. No worse than any trip I ever took on VIA Rail. The only hassle was that once the train got to Grand Central in NYC, you had to take a shuttle bus over to Madison Square Garden (Penn Station) to hop on the train to DC. Had to do the same thing on the trip back. Coming back to Montreal there was a VIA rail strike so the Amtrak train had to unload everybody at Rouses Point and bus us into Central Station. The whole trip cost me $111 including taxes round-trip. Way cheaper than flying and not as long a trip (or with as many sketchy passengers) as the Greyhound.

Yeah that part I'm sure is correct but was just pointing out how Hollywood sometimes whitewashes ethnic characters from time to time. A Spaniard being played by an Australian is what I was referring to.

Never saw Solo yet but I agree with Last Jedi it was a total let down they better get it right with the last one or this trilogy will be worse than the prequel trilogy!!!

Is it possible to be worse than episode 1 and 2?
Three wasn’t horrible , not great but the phantom menace and attack of the clones were so bad
The acting was just brutal. There’s porn actors that coulda done a better job playing Anakin than Hayden Christensen.

He's waaaay too small to play Solo. He's about an inch higher than friggin John Snow (comparing with Clarke).

It was an okay action/scifi movie, but meh for a SW movie. People can **** on the prequel trilogy all they want, at least it was more entertaining than where Disney is taking the franchise.

I would be far more interested in a young Yoda movie that looks at the decline of the sith, 800 years before the original trilogy. Or even a Obiwan movie or Anakin movie set after ROTS.

Not really interested in RJohnson's outer rim/unknown regions-no Jedi/just force users movie.

It's funny cuz on the one hand, they're giving fans of the Legends books some of what we've been asking, by using some of the stuff in that expanded universe and re-cannonizing some of it in varied forms (Admiral Thrawn is in the new cannon books), but at the same time, they're veering off a bit too much and also at the same time, they're recycling old stuff like Solo.

The common theme though, seems to be to try to get away from the Jedis altogether, which is a mistake imo. There's something like 20 millenia of mythos to explore regarding the force and the jedis. They're highly mistaken if they think they can detach the jedis from SW.

There's a ray of hope for fans of the legends like me though. They've hired DB Weiss and that other writer from GOT to make another trilogy. Now that would fit well with a Knights of the old Republic or Golden age of the sith type movie, but aimed at the older generation of fans, something actually new; a R rated SW movie. Mix GOT and SW= Epic.

Phantom was ok with me what I didn't like was the whole political part about it!!! Trade federation, Jedi council, the senate, Boss Nass lol but I agree with Clones I only saw that once and that's that same as Last Jedi saw it once and that's it as well!!! But like I said if they don't knock it out of the park with ep.9 it will rank as the worse trilogy for me but that's just my opinion.
