M.Davidsson replaced Erholtz (EHT) to be with Lenni and Järvinen.

In the first shift of the game he tried to go for the Michigan, and had a couple of good chances in the final minute.

(0:00 & 0:36)

edit. Another two real good chances early in the 2nd. Boy could really use a goal. :I

edit2. Now a nice individual effort for another one, and then Davidsson with his own.

(0:07-0:20 & 0:28)

edit3. After good pressure by the 1st line the team ties it 1-1 in the third. Lenni and the line has been good today.

edit4. And then Lenni hits the post with 5s left.

Season-high 11 shots taken in 17:29 in a tough 1-2 loss.

+a couple of others. With solid depth they've seemingly kinda scraped by at a few points.

Side note: Was chosen Young Pori Athlete of the Year earlier. Previous hockey players given the honor: Jesse Joensuu, Erik Haula, Joel Armia, & Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

And Haula went on to stir the drink. Hopefully Lenni can learn to do that as well....

Lenni assist!

24 sec in and gives a nice pass for Davidsson who's all alone vs goalie. And yeah guys keep dropping, and lines looking quite rough for todays game after Lenni's line so that was needed.

edit. And another post by Lenni 12min in.

edit2. 2nd 5min in gives a good pass on a 2v1, but no goal.

edit3. *Sigh* MDavidsson thrown out of the game with 1min left in the 2nd because of a hit to the head.

edit4. Good effort to make a 2on1 happen, but maybe gets a bit too close when he makes the pass. Been playing with quite a few different guys in the third.

edit3. After good pressure by the 1st line the team ties it 1-1 in the third. Lenni and the line has been good today.
*And by team I meant the 1st line, with Lenni having the third assist and already being in the bench when the puck went in.

Just looking at Ham's numbers, and they seem good, but not off the charts good.

But when I look at the rest of his team? He is tied for the team lead in goals despite playing 14 less games then the co leader. 3 guys are tied for 3rd on the team and they each have 7.

Just not a lot of offense going on on that team.

MDavidsson got a 1 game suspension so Erholtz, coming back from a good EHT, replaced him on Lenni's line for today at least.

First period was the worst individual period from Ässät and Lenni in a long while honestly. Same old issues, as mentioned below, to the extreme.

edit. Some flashes in the 2nd so far...

Lenni assist!

His shot gets deflected in to keep Ässät alive 35min in.

edit2. 54min in and Lenni hit the post again...

Yep, and as a recap after the great first 15 games the snowball suddenly started to roll for some reason with guys grabbing their sticks tighter and tighter (league worst 14 less goals scored than expected), while having the worst powerplay in the league (Lenni still 1ppg + 2ppa), and a steady stream of injuries with quite a few longer ones to important guys. Been a struggle, but considering everything they’ve still shown pretty good effort and spirit overall imo.

That's about in line with Hameenaho as a prospect though. Good player, but not off the charts good.

With MDavidsson back to replace Erholtz, and Järvinen thankfully continuing his real good season after his injury their line with Lenni was able to produce an ok amount of chances. Though could still sense some tenseness because how tight things are in the top-10 line, and them losing the last game. Lenni also with a couple of hits in the first.

First goal in 13 games. In the 10 games after the WJC a solid 8 points.

On Saturday a game vs local rival Lukko against who the team has been goalless in their two other games away.

Thanks for sharing the updates as always. Has Lenny improved since the beginning of the season? Stats only tell part of the story. Long term the overall growth in his game and skills is more important than just the raw numbers.

In the first the line got some good chances for in the opening 10, then more against in the latter half. Second was a less eventful one on both ends. Kinda uneven game overall, and less than sharp 3 game week for Lenni overall. Hopefully 5 days till next game will do him (and the team) some good.

Honestly I’m not confident enough when it comes to the matter to say more that it feels like he’s gotten better at using his strength overall along the way this season.

(As just a fan with limited hockey experience and going with the vibes I think I can get a fair general idea about a game, also when it comes to a player who is more noticeable like Lenni. Having a clear enough picture on how an individual has progressed in their game with the details during a long period feels too difficult for me for the most part… especially with all the twists and turns.)

Had a real good start passing for a breakaway and a 2on1 in his two first shifts. With Lefebvre finally coming back as the top puck-moving defenceman on the team he was feeding Lenni nicely on the PP for onetimers (10 shots taken today). Most being blocked since Lenni was the only one being the triggerman on it, and later went with a few passes towards the net for deflections. *edit: Ok honestly just quite a struggle of game by him despite creating/having some chances with too many plays that simply looked sloppy/off. Drew a couple of penalties since today seemed like he was going down more than usual. All kinda feels like some kind of combination of being exhausted and less than ideal confidence atm.

After todays' struggle of a 4-3 SO win the team has 8 games and 18 days left in the reg. season. After the two still left this weekend they’ve got 5 of their last 6 games away, and are realistically in the fight with 2 other teams for the 9th and 10th spot.

Lenni assist!

Quite a few chances for his line today. Though Lenni seemingly still not quite bursting with confidence

edit. Kinda similar to last game overall. Though was involved in creating a few more chances for with his line and team playing better. Some kind of change and decreasing of his load a bit to a similar level he had today with 16:09 could be worth trying out. Or maybe they'll keep trying to get that spark going with how well especially Järvinen is playing and Lenni's potential, while maybe wanting to have some stability in the top lines. We'll see...

Huge game tomorrow after a tough, well fought loss.

Had a nice solid first, but not much after kinda like the rest of the team. Though played only a little in the second because of all the pk.

Have to hope they'll get it together again against a top-team on Tuesday. Then the next after that on Saturday is basically a must win.

Lenni assist!

With Järvinen being out today the line was modified to Erholtz-MDavidssson-Lenni. Game vs the leading team in the league for guys in their own tough situations... uneven, but not quite as bad as feared.

edit. 20:11 TOI in regulation, and then started the 3on3 OT... which feels like something that shouldn't be happening.

Then played the whole 1:24 since he didn't see the chance to change, and his effort to defend in his own end looking hopeless on the GA. *sigh*

Why does Hämeenaho have so few PP points? Only 3 PP points and 24 even strength points. Is he bad on PP or is it because Ässät PP is bad?

Forgot to add that he had a +1.5min shift late in the third so one of the more confusing decisions in a while.

I'd say the root cause is more Ässät PP being poor because of multitude of reasons (too often lacking some mix of speed, confidence, creativity, some key players, etc.) feeding each other, and with that snowball rolling Lenni not gelling well enough into whatever plan they've had this season.

- Back with Erholtz and Järvinen for the do-or-die game.

- Keeps getting those penalties drawn. Now after getting the puck out of the d-zone with his stick, and then getting crosschecked.

- Hasn't really got it going with his line, and after a good 2on1 chance late in the 2nd period got a puck deflected to the face. Stayed on the ice for a minute, a bit of blood, got off the ice, and went to the locker room.

- Hasn't gotten back for the first 5min of the 3rd, and team down 1-3... edit. didn't return, and with that 0 points a top-10 spot would need a miracle.

- "Back with Erholtz and Järvinen for the do-or-die game" part 2: Now with a full face shield

- "Keeps getting those penalties drawn" part 2: Oh no, not the pp again...

- Some solid chances for the line in the first. Overall vibe of the game: Pre(ssure)-season

- Quality chances for Lenni on the pp... goal would be nice

LENNI GOAL?! ON THE POWERPLAY?!
