That is a good point, but Subban is/was a top 2 D on MTL while Leddy is/was a bottom pairing guy on Chicago.

The season leading up to his new contract, Subban was a 0.44 PPG player with a +9 in 24+ minutes a game against the opponents best and only got a raise of 129% in the 1st year and a 87.5% raise in the 2nd year. Leddy was a 0.38 PPG player with a +15 in about 17 minutes a game against the opponents bottom six with a 200% raise.

Leddy doesn't deserve a 200% raise and Bickell doesn't deserve 400% raise next season ($600k to $3M) with an additional raise from 2013-14 to 2014-15 in a deal with a max salary of $4.5M for the final two seasons of his new contract.

My issues is two fold...1) I don't think these guys can play up to their new contracts; 2) We had a shortened season because of owners complaining about salaries, yet they continue to approve of insane deals relative to a player's production.

Yes Leddy's contract is a little high, but what do you do if you're Bowman? Let him sit out? Or wait for a possible offersheet that might be more? In the end, 200k-500k isn't all that much if you want to keep good relations with the player going forward. I believe Stan views Leddy as Oduya's replacement and keeping a top four D of Keith, Seabrook, Hammer, Leddy.

As for Bickell, you pay him what his market value is. He wanted 4 million and would have received that on the open market. If the Hawks don't give that to him they lose him and don't have a top-6 power forward in their lineup. The Hawks weren't keeping Bickell at 3 million - not after his post-season run.

The lockout had more to do with the players receiving 57% of the revenue share and contracts getting into the 10-13 year range and less to do with individual contracts becoming inflated.

The reports on Emery are 1.5 for 3 years. And there is no way Kruger is getting 2.5 per on a 2 year deal.

If Rozsival is getting what he got last year (2 mil) then Stan can fit him in.

Everything has been more than we expected. Emery had an amazing season even though he didn't play in the playoffs.

We have to remember Stanley Cup winners garner a bit more $$$.

Ray Emery very likely moving on from Chicago, looking for bigger role, chance at 1 or 1a spot. I'd put Philly as front-runner.

Good for everyone, Ray deserves more money and opportunity than what the Hawks can offer and this gives us a better chance to keep Rozi or bring in someone similar to keep our D depth.

This board is so ridiculous some times. When they get rosi back the hawks will have the deepest defense in the league again making them fresh for the playoffs. The hawks will once again own leddy's rights after this contract.

Perfect. Can't wait to make a cup run for years to come.

Ok...we are now at $ 6.845 million under the cap after this Leddy signing for 19 players..still need 1more D for thord pairing with Leddy as LD and Brookbank s 7th D..he is in thr 19 under contract and prpjected on the roster.. Plus need back-up goalie..Raanta has a $1.4 million cap hit..so that is $5.4 mil remaining for Rosival and for Kruger combinrd plus some teserve if we only carry a 22 man roster for the show.. IT does not seem enough so somebody has to get traded...or waived..or reg. Bought out..Do they need? Catcillo? BOLLIG?

That is more than enough $$ to fit 3more quality players under the cap.

Oops those 19 were withot PIRRi and his $870k cap hit..which mens Carcillo has to go to cover that. .Still leaves only about $5.2 MILL FOR Kruger + Rosival + A reserve cushion umdrr the cap. .if the combo of Kruger + Rosival comes in at a total of $4.5 mil we are only about700k below cap..and only there If we trade or waive Carcillo...other option is to trade Brookbank amd replace with a cheaper 7th d. And trade or waive Bollig if we keep Carcillo...

Mea culpa.. The 19 signed also does not onvlude a provision for re-signimh Leblanc and inserting on the roster...so it looks like now way can we get all these guys in and under the.. ONLY $6.845 mil left to get Pirri Leblamc Raanta and Rosival and Kruger all on the roster..evem if we lop off both Carcillo and Bollig and trade Brookbank and replace with a $500 k cheaper 7th d..this is looking very tight to the cap with almost no reserve..do not think the y can afford that $4.5 million limmit for the Kruger and Rosival combo..gotta have a bigger hometown discount from them..

Not terrible, but not ideal. Would have rather done 4 years at 3mill instead.

Has there been a deal that Stan has made that has looked like a steal? It seems all these contracts are for more $$$$ than we had hoped for.

Stalberg 2 years $750,000, Crawford 3 years 2.6 mil, Bickell 3 years 560,000, emery 1 years 1.2 mil come to mind immediately.

I don't love the contract, but it's an extra 200K more than I thought is so not a big deal. Not even worth.
