I wonder if there hasn't been some sort of promise to keep Kivihalme with the NHL team for a certain number of weeks when he was signed. Remember that he was an integral part of Karpat last season and surely would have earn more than a base AHL salary. I know this isn't meaningful until the season begins but maybe it's something to watch out for.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying amazing for the Marlies lol but I would be ok with him on the Marlies.
Marincin has actually been playing really well this pre season. He had an amazing ahl playoffs and world championships. His game has developed but people like to hold the past against him. From what he's shown so far he pairs very well with Sandin and looks solid. Would like too see Kivihalme play well and be the 7th D

Never been a Marincin fan. But we always said he would be best suited as the 6th man who is a PK specialist. We certainly need that kind of player, plus he's made improvements over the past 3 years.

I hope the drama will soon pass after Matthews spoke in brief at noon. Hopefully Babcock doesn't feel the need to add boxers like Clune and Harpur to tonight's lineup. I'd be over the moon if the Leafs could source another RHD underwear Ceci could be dropped to the 3rd pair. Maybe Matthews debuts a cheeky new goal celebration tonight?

As far as I'm concerned Marincin's main issue is his inability to consistently complete a breakout pass to a forward in motion or at least take the puck across the center line before attempting a dump in. The result is he ices the puck too often. However there are worse plays than icings. I like his coverage/corner work and his ability to get his stick into passing lanes.

If you look at the roster one of Marincin or Kivihalme is pegged to be the 7th D. Lets hope Babs makes the right choice i.e. Marincin.

What would your set up look like? I agree that Nylander should be there...but someone that should be on PP1 is always going to not be.

Personally I would like two evenly split PP units like the Leafs had the previous two seasons when they had the second best PP each year, instead of the crap PP results they had last year. But, selfish individual demands are over-riding what is best for the team.

Seriously I've got a bit of nerves about Sandin tonight. I hope there's no decline in performance. The Leafs really need him to be the real thing this season.

Don’t think using Matthews and boxers in the same post is a good idea given the current climate

Finally time to start paying attention to the vets as they get serious.

Let’s go Sandin, sew up a spot kid!

If he performs well, it removes the sting of losing gardiner... at least when dermott comes back.

Opening night lineup for the most part

its down to korshkov or timoshov

Think fans are reading way too much into one 2 goal game for Korshkov. He has a long way to go based on marlie games I watched last year. My vote is Petan quite easily. If only Petan could speak Russian. I like Timashov but not over three or four other guys. But having a guy who can translate for the new guy has won him a job. Maybe
