That bottom 6 is horrific

Kerfoot, Spezza plus a bunch of replacement level dudes
If those lines can survive without getting curb stomped I'd be beyond surprised and would call it a massive win

Kinda dramatic.

That's a good fourth line. Not even sure what you expect there.

Third line looks fine with Kapanen or Johnsson on it, which will happen when Johnsson returns.

What do you think a good bottom-6 looks like? Boston's isn't much better and our 2nd line curb stomps theirs. When we're healthy and Kapanen is on the 3rd line, our bottom-6 is probably better than theirs, their 4th line is trash.

Tampa's is great, but that's less about money and more about being able to find a Paquette and Gourde for free.
Lol honestly. Spezza has been good in his limited role, Clifford has been as advertised a fourth liner with toughness. Once mikheyev comes back, Kapanen slides back to the third line and we’re in good shape. Our ‘depth’ is injured. No johnsson and mikheyev is killing us and has been for some time

Why did Korshkov get sent down after scoring a goal in his first game?
Because scoring a goal doesn’t mean you’re a good player / played well. Remember that poeling kid who scored 3 against the leafs last year? Check his stats for this year

See Matthews has earned the right to say this. He has performed. Marner hasn't so he shouldn't be going after the fans.

LOL
Yeah that 2 mill total overpay is destroying the team
We could have Matt Martin!!!!!

Yeah, because those millions of dollars couldn't go to useful players that would help they just had to go to another Martin, nice strawMan

I'd have thought your Lord and savior could have put that money to good use, if he hadn't been rolled obviously

Engvall has a bad month in his rookie year and all of a sudden he's replacement level, of course.

Engvall-Kerfoot-Kapanen is a good third line as far as playoff teams go and leaves us with an above average 4th line + 2 extras. How many NHL forwards deep do you want us to be, especially when we can call up Agostino or Korshkov in a pinch. Teams don't carry 16+ NHL caliber forwards in their organization.

Give Boston 2 forward injuries and all of a sudden they're running a Lindholm-Wagner 3rd line with some trash AHLers on the 4th.

He's a 4th liner, the fact we have to use a rookie like this just shows our GM'S incompetence

Keefe clearly isn't sure Kerfoot is a center and he's on for 36 points with half his season on the wing with Tavares, and were so short of forwards Kapanen has spent half his season in the top 6

By the way, how's that Kadri trade working for you?

Nothing on the Marlies, nothing in the bottom 6, 2 injuries
Solid stuff

Thats what Carlyle did in 2014. it worked for most of the season until of course the 18 wheeler went off the cliff.

As much as id love to do that, i dont think the players could keep it up for an extended period of time and will more than likely get burnt out.

Their going to have to, we have no other choice and when you take all the money there's a consequence

Next season? Or when we trade Johnsson because we need cap space for other areas

AJ has not even been good. Not sure what people see in him. He is just a waterbug, that’s it. WE are only missing Soup.

Malgin and Engvall are replacement level players and that's 2 3rds of our 3rd line

2 injuries, that's all it takes for our bottom 6 to become AHL quality

Tampa pays their stars significantly less money than we have at similar places in their careers, that's an out and out fact

You cheerleaders are starting to get annoying, Dubas ****** up and he got rolled by our RFA'S so we have no money for boring stuff like depth
Exactly!

All other teams have to do is have their top 6 neutralise our top 6, and, their bottom 6 just has to beat our likely weaker bottom 6 to win the game.

Our top 6 take too much of the cap pie, therefore, our botton 6 have to be paid less. The less you pay the bottom 6, the less skill they likely bring too.

Too bad the big 3 didn't think about that before taking Dubas to the woodshed!

Lol. True the 40 point depth forward is not good. Those grow on trees. Also, he’s battled a bunch of injuries this year

you realize that not everyone is Auston matthews right. People need to temper their expectations for depth players. Good grief.

Awesome

Keep him as far away as possible from any potential shooting spots. He's killed our PP's trying to snipe with his muffins.
It's more likely he'll just shoot from further out. If he knew his shots were killing the PP he wouldn't be doing them now

We got Mitch and his muffin shot on the left boards while the Bruins, Bolts and Caps have Pasta, OV and Stammer. Why it took the coaches 69 games to see this beats me.

Why not mix up the lines. Not like the combos haven’t worked before.

Barrie on the third pairing, with PP time, that’s perfect.

I don't know what's going to happen next year. You were clearly talking about it as is and that's what I disagreed with.

Management ****** the cap situation, there's nothing to disagree with
It is what it is

Pray Robertson is ready next season

Matthews is preaching the facts with the anonymity comment. I imagine Marner's personal messages are more brutal.

Then move him to PP2. Kappy, Spezza or Nylander can play the left side on PP1.
I suspect the coaches are telling him to shoot, people are crazy if they think a Marner is freelancing out there. He’s told to shoot so they don’t sit on the cross seam. Now whether it’s effective or not, that’s fair game, but these posters (not you) ripping him for the system, it’s ridiculous. Unless of course we’re arguing the coaching staff has no clue, which is interesting for some of us.
