I think we'll see a deal for a RHD and possibly a 4th line C
I doubt both. We're most likely not trading our 2nd rounder for this year and to acquire any impact RHD it would be too expensive on our current assets. We have 2 4th line centers that do fine so I'm not sold on that either.
I think Dubas stands pat and waits until all of these contracts have been dealt with before making any other major move.

Muzzin was added already. I think that's the biggest move made for us at the trade deadline.

I will expect a minor move or two, mostly impacting the Marlies and improve depth in case of injuries.

I could see a forward added to upgrade on Lindholm. Basically a LW that plays a heavier game and can provide something more than just chipping pucks in a corner and not doing anything else.

I see a tinkering type trade being made. Our 4th line is very useless. It doesn't really generate offense. I'd at least like it to help wear down the other team by being physical if nothing else.

Other then that, I could see a minor league deal being made as well. Engvall played centre the other day, so they need help at C.

Tons of smoke around us grabbing a RHD but who knows if they can pull that off by Monday or if it is re-visited this off-season.

He just traded for Muzzin for a pretty good package.

Come on...

All the more reason for him to be conservative at the TD as he already dealt his best currency away in a 1st in 2019 and essentially 2 X 2nds (in prospects level) for Muzzin.

Do you see him dealing the 2020 1st rounder also away now, when he should know that once all the big contracts of AM and MM kick in his drafting and developing players around them through the draft will be vital to the teams success long-term and without 1st round picks that task becomes much harder.

He hasn't dealt any real roster players away YET, and so dealing futures is easier than dealing roster players for any GM.

I predict Dubas will be conservative based on his level of NHL GM experience.

What does that have to do with lack of experience like you insinuated?

Sounds to me like you forgot that he added Muzzin, which means he was the first to add to his team before every other team, and you are now backtracking.

So? what does any of that have to do with experience?

It’s killing you that Dubas already made an excellent trade here.

Absolutely nothing will happen from the Leaf's perspective.

.... Probably a good thing considering recent memory at this time of the year recalls paying out 2nd round picks for players that stayed till end of the season Plek, Boyle, Holland.

In order to go big and blow minds and add that top 4 RHD that the team desperately needs that would really require him dealing Nylander as he already will have tooooooo much Cap invested in forwards with the other big 3. (post MM)

Dubas already gave Willy a verbal NTC that he wouldn't deal him as long as he was GM, which basically takes that move off the table now, even if there is a deal to be had.

So at best I'm expecting minor tweaking on the far edges with a little better depth as 4th line or 3rd pairing. .

A Dubas TD move will likely bring in a player like Adam McQuaid and feel he is addressing the RHD and toughness at the same time.

Minor tweaks or standing pat. Might be laying the groundwork for an eventful offseason though.

I wouldn’t be surprised with either Glendening or Jensen from Detroit.

Failing that, nothing.
I’d like Pesce but I don’t think Dubas is prepared to pay one of Johnsson/Kappy.

I think the Leafs will target players who can play down low, stop the cycle, can improve/play on the PK and be cheap.

We are going to face at least one of Boston or Tampa, both are elite PP, Boston likes to play down low.

I would not surprise me at all to see two more forwards that will get 4th line minutes but are considered PK specialist and another defender who is able to clear the front of the net.

It seems our weakness is the cycle/down low play in our own end and the likely hood we will have to defend on the PK a lot because Boston and Tampa get more than their fair share of PP opportunities.

if dubas can move Zaitsev out and bring a RHD upgrade in while not losing anything significant off the currenr roster that would be sweet.

Why, now that he is away from Gard's, Z looks like a serviceable D-man.
