Very hard contract to predict. Will have less than 2.5 years NHL experience when the season is over, and will be 28 years old at the start of a new deal. His point totals are definitely inflated playing mostly with Matthews, Marner and Nylander. Leafs have to be careful here, a long term deal may easily be a disaster, although I don’t know much about buyout intricacies. If he stays I think both sides have to give in to make it happen. He signs a lower cap hit deal, while the Leafs give him term, assuming it can be buyout friendly.
