It was like a regular season game where the Leafs play great for a bit followed by long-lasting lapses

And Babcock needs to get over his love affair with Marleau and Brown and ice the best team/lines

Lol

Yikes.
If you think he's been our best player. literally turning their head a way from the game and looking at the stats sheet.

It's alike to JvR he'll get his goals.... but do you really think his impact on the game is really that crucial? I'm not expecting him to run around and hit people.... but if he isn't going to bite down; get into the dirty areas.

I don't know what to tell ya.... but this started because people are acting like Tavares is a **** signing....

I say we match Matthews with Bergeron line and give JT Coyle line.
Did i say he was our best player? I said he is leading our team in scoring (sorry tied with tavares/marner) but he has more goals.

Our best player is andersen and always will be. After that I think each of our players have had off games.

Marner - great 1st game, bad 2nd, good 3rd (good defensively, meh offensively), bad 4th game

Tavares - good 1st game, bad 2nd, good 3rd, bad 4th

Matthews - good 1st game, bad 2nd, good 3rd, great 4th

In the end of the day, we need all of our players playing great! I cheer for the leafs! Not individual players.

Btw, i would have no problem matching up matty against bergeron but i would just switch john and auston on the lines.

He has been great. Fans just don't lije it.

I'm not even paying attention to advanced stats in the playoffs and even I can see that Nylander's been good and I've been all 'eye test' during the playoffs. Problem is that most fans seem to watch the game drunk or something, try watching sober once in a while you might actually pick up on something.

I don't think they had lapses here, it's impossible to dominate or play a full 60. The closest you'll get is around 45 nowadays with teams being fairly even and I think they were better than Boston for at least 45 minutes of that game, the rest is just part of the ebb & flow of the game. In the regular season, they would take entire periods off and they didn't in game 1/3/4.

Effort level wasn't the reason, personnel choices and bad defensive structure are why they lost.

Two games in a row that Nylander has outplayed Marner and Tavares, two games in a row he's the guy getting trashed in the media.

f*** right off.

Bergeron played 14:37 last night. Wonder if he is hurting.

If Leafs want to win, Z needs to figure out how to play with a round puck and find the strength to get the puck out of his end when he gets the opportunity. Muzz has sucked in both losses. Perhaps Babs should go back to Rielly/Hainsey some to go against Bergeron. Gards appeared to be engaging in more physical play last night which is a good sign.
round puck! now where have i heard that;)

Leafs nation logic
Once the fanbase thinks a player is bad, he will always be bad.

I like Marner, but I'm not paying him 15 million dollars his fans want.

I could argue Andersen was also a reason we lost. It's one bad game by him, but he can't play like that.

If there is any karma, Nylander is scoring the series clinching goal and waving the middle finger up to his haters...but he's too nice to do that.

The losers who booed him for stumbling yesterday should be ashamed of themselves.

Yeah, even if you excuse the rest, that Chara goal absolutely should not go in.

Not worried about Freddie though. We won Game 5 and 6 last year and we'll do it again.

Nylander has been playing good, which begs the question why Babcock saddles him with two guys who can't do anything. 3rd period should have seen Brown/Marleau benched and Nylander up with Matthews

I’m not denying the stats but do they have stats that adjust for quality of competition?
I would expect different outcomes playing against Coyle,Krejci and Bergeron.

It's the local boy thing I think. For the most part the same people ripping apart Nylander and saying he's overpaid are the same people saying Marner should make more than Matthews.

Now, Marner has elevated his game this year and has gotten a little more puck luck but the gap still isn't THAT huge between Nylander and Marner when both are on their games. Nylander has easily been better 5 on 5 in this series.

Nylander will always be the better 5 on 5 player, while Marner is the PP specialist.

With that said, if somebody has a bad game or stretch they're open for criticism sure, but this Marner can do no wrong business while every loss is Nylanders fault is getting old fast.

It baffles me the people that just repeat what the talking heads say. It's no surprise nylander has a negative perception after kypreos had a whole segment in the 2nd intermission basically calling him out for not scoring... Even though he controlled play almost every minute he was on the ice.

He was literally on the ice for THREE shots against. He was one of the best forwards on the ice by far, and he was doing it with 2 absolute duds on the wing.
All His draws except for a few icings were in the offensive zone. But he still managed on 3 shots against with 45% on the dot. Marleau was 63% don't know who took more but you really can't have more lopsided results.

He played USA hockey for youth, sweden for junior. Thats why I said wrong again. You think he would be tougher playing in US hence why I pointed out the prejudice. He lazy because he is spoiled is all
Not USA...who said that Haha
CANADA is a different animal. They have the skill but also the desire and compete...Americans not so much...our 34 is an example, allot of coasting at times. With his skill and size it shouldn't be close

This team is more than capable to win games on the road. Both teams have to win 2 out of 3. I am not counting the Leafs out, not at all. They could very easily win the next 2 games. It's so depressing reading you guys, lol. It's 2-2 series, not 0-3. They can do this!
