I knew it! :sarcasm:

So, father and son are united in the Leaf organization. Interesting choice here. A former Jack Adams winner too.

So he is taking over Brewer, and Malhotra is taking over McFarland.

I imagine he will have a major input on the PP and offensive strategies. The structure is the same as last year, but the responsibilities of the new assistants will be completely different than their predecessors.

Experienced NHL Jack Adams winning head coach.

Probably came in at a decent price ... not that that matters.

Slow off-season continues.

Well, slow offseason is bit of a misnomer considering the Cup hasn't even been decided yet, and, we've already traded a decent player for a 1st Rounder and a potential regular for next year.

I think Leafs will be active and in "win now" mode. They have to use their organizational wealth to their advantage in uncertain times. Every advantage, especially in a Cap environment must be exploited.

This slow off-season has the potential to be the most bizarre one in decades. Literally almost every player could be available from any team.
You will see dozens of RFA's without a QO. It's gonna be crazy.

That is what we had last year... Brewer, McFarland and Hakstol.

I knew we were not done with just Malhotra! He is not a PP or offensive guy. I just thought we may have decided to absorb Brewer's role in with the video coaches, which may still happen since Malhotra is likely going to be doing different things than Brewer did.

McLean seems like a great option. He was a Jack Adams winner, he has a ton of experience, and he is fine being an assistant coach (which is the main difference between him and Boudreau).

Sam Kim was thought to be Brewer’s replacement. Seems like they split up Brewer’s duties.

Kim as the video coach, while MacLean doing the eye in the sky part of it

Fun fact: AJ McLean is his son. AJ McLean was Keefe's main man in SSM and on the Marlies, and McLean is still an assistant with the Marlies.

So there is a built in relationship there already.

And don't forget about Babcock who taught him everything he knows.

I think he is suppose to be a PP guru.

Let's look at Ottawa's PP 2011-2014.

NHL Stats

Anaheims assistant from 2015-2017 (under Boudreau)

NHL Stats

Assistant last year under Torts.

He was Babcock's assistant in Anaheim and Detroit.

Yes, there are going to be teams wanting cash relief.

Rangers top Forbes' list of most valuable NHL teams

We have already heard talk of Florida being on a very tight leash.

I think the Coyotes could appreciate paying 1 million to Andersen, rather than 3.5 to Kuemper. Maybe they get offered more elsewhere, but at least with Andersen they'd have a starter.

Interesting hire. Didn't see this one coming. Had a feeling another assistant was coming. Like it though.
