Assuming a Pesce trade happens, wouldn't Muzzin's current contract run out before the ED takes place? Mind you, we could quite possibly be heading to a situation where Dubas negotiates with Seattle to avoid any player on the "unprotected list".

The way I see it, Bracco is going to be in tough to make the team in the next 1-2 years. He's the same player as Nylander and Marner but a tier down and our team has a lot of small players right now.

My thoughts were based on the assumption that one of Gardiner (if he is extended) or Muzzin (if he is extended) stays with the team. If they are both gone our D core will be:

Dermott Liljegren
Sandin Rosen/Holl/Borgman

ideally we want one of Gardiner or Muzzin to stay to run

They've been a bubble team for years. They're a top 6 F or two from getting over the hump and actually making the dance. Playoff revenue is huge for small market franchises. They want scoring now.
