Meh. Wasn't too impressed with him last year. But I can't really be upset about the contract. Good luck to him. Hope he improves. We do need all the help on D we can get.

Are Corrado's offensive skills as limited as Carrick's defensive abilities?

hes nothing special, but we need 6, 7, 8th dman depth for the season while our younger guys develop...with injuries and trades, u'll be using around 10 D for the year

1 Reilly
2 Zaitsev
3 Gardiner
4 Marincin
5 Hunwick
6 Polak
7 Carrick
8 Corrado

If Zaitsev is coming in as advertised, our defence is looking pretty good this year!

Doesn't seem to be a favourite of Babcock, but I thought he did fine when he finally got into the line up last year.

Right now defence is shaping up as:
Zaitsev-Reily
Carrick-Gardiner
Polak-Marincin

I would imagine Corrado and Hunwick will get shopped at or near the deadline.

Don't say it! Corrado was waived by Benning for a reason. Carrick is the one who needs this spot. Carrick's offense outweighs anything Corrado does.

and Benning said they wanted to get him to the AHL to have some conditioning, they had really hoped he would have been able to go on through without being claimed. and he was upset that Toronto just had him sitting in the press box, because had he gone to Utica he'd be getting the conditioning he needed.

so there you go.

Canucks can claim him this year when the Leafs waive him.

About the signing, what is minimum today, $575?

He accepted about as little as you can get on a NHL contract, so he knows where he sits in the dept charts ...

Remember how Lou also signed a few players last season... and then ended up trading them before season start...?
Sometimes.., signings are a way of securing the player(s) dollar value.., to make it easier for the other partner in the trade..

I wish him well, whatever happens.., but he needs to step it up a few notches to hang around longer.. Still has time to improve, though..
