Is it one-way?Exactly the contract I thought he would get. Good for him, and it should make it easy for him to slip through waivers this year.

The extra year for ‘fringe’ guys can be a deterrent to claiming teams, since they’re on the hook the following year.I'm not following you. How does it help him slip thru waivers?
Probably not, but that’s fine because it’s a two way contract and he’s a great AHL player that can help get the Marlies back in the playoffsWhy? He's never going to be an NHL player

He's a good Marlie and he's a cheap call up if we get injuries during the season, good for Brooks and good for the Leafs

Still some other RFA’s to sign, I’d expect similar deals for a couple of them.
Meh I'd rather see roster spots go to guys with a chance to make it.

He's nothing special but he can do a job if we need him, that's pretty much what all those depth type guys are
Thats the thing.
Not every prosepect has to turn into a top six player to have value. If he turns into a replacement level 4th liner for even 100 NHL games he will have made a positive impact.
