Making easy plays look really difficult. Like that PP in the first where we failed three times to clear without being pressured. Continued into the second.
Every time we string a couple passes together, we get a chance.
Watching the game, this team is missing a few things, among them killer instincts, depth scoring or a top 6 power forward.
Because he’s pretty much a more skilled Sam Gagner?
One dimensional. Love his offensive upside but the guy is good at only one end of the ice.
Dave Poulin just said one of the dumbest things I've heard, when asked who would win an art Ross first Matthews or Gaudreau . He replied "Matthews because he can create his own chances" (paraphrasing)
Like I have no problem him picking Matthews, but insinuating Johnny doesn't create his own chances, is laughably ignorant.
Ah yes, I only heard it once and went into rage mode, that makes sense. That's not why he's on the fourth line as per Babcock. He's not scoring on the top line so sometimes you put a guy on a lower line to get easy matchups to break the scoring slump. Has nothing to do with his defensive play (which isn't nearly as bad as you are making it out to be. JVR, Bozak, etc are guys that you say that about, not Nylander).
To clarify what Poulin said/meant.. He was talking about goal scoring, which is dumb because it was a points argument not a goal scoring one, but yeah. Matthews 'creates' his most of his own points by scoring. Gaudreau 'creates' most of his own points by passing.
But yes Poulin is an idiot regardless of the misunderstanding.
