Who cares about Mathews. Her isn't even in the top 2 players on the leafs. Most overrated over hyped player in recent memory. It remains to be seen how his career plays out but certainly not even close to Mcdavid level.

The future will depend on who they hire and I'm not confident in who is doing the hiring but yeah, the prospect pool is improving and Bakersfield is an obvious bright spot.
I just don't think that many organizations envy the Oilers outside of the 2 elite guys. I, as an Oilers fan, find myself envying most organizations but another story for another thread. I'll let you fellas enjoy the win tonight without bringing the mood down even further.

For all the **** ups chiarelli has made, locking those two up long term was a solid by him.

You could argue we don’t make the playoffs without the added assistance on D that was Larson. You could argue without that playoff run, we don’t get Dra or McDavid signed long term.

who cares? Honestly, most teams have the problem of having poor talent at the top. Filling out the depth is a fun problem. Even if we miss the playoffs this season, we are enviable

True. Nurse is fine like 90% of the time but when he makes one bad play it gets magnified and all of a sudden that one bad play defines him as an entire player.

C'mon though. I get that hearing positive comments sucks when you are upset at the standings, but we do have some great players and prospects and some reason to be excited. I don't even get why MacT would get any kind of credit in this situation. It's sad that we aren't a playoff contender at this point, and part of that his doing.

edit: although wasn't it MacT that had to make the right call in drafting Drai over Bennett? Bennett was the consensus superior pick

B2b offseasons ive said the Oilers are screwed if Sekera minutes arent replaced. Hes severely underrated.

No coincidences the team AND goalie look better with a healthy d corps. Last time we iced a healthy d corps we were in the second round of the playoffs.

okay that's cool. Tbh I didn't pay attention to the whole game but it seemed like they had plenty of fight from the spurts I saw, but if you saw more than you'd have the better opinion.
