pretty sure if you had played at least 25 NHL games prior to the rule's installment then you are still able to play without one

Just watch, it'll be Rinaldo. Young enough, and dumb enough to go visorless after everyone else is wearing them. Don't think anyone would have predicted that Craig MacTavish would have been the last helmetless player the early 90s.

Simmonds also sometimes wears a visor now.

There's no "now" to it. When he entered the League with the Kings he wore one, took it off in Philly, and has recently put it back on.

This is from September of 2008 when he started with the Kings

Then from April of 2011 - still sporting a visor as a King

And then September of 2011 after he goes to Philly it comes off

And then in October of 2016 he puts it back on

So Simmonds has kind of gone back and forth on wearing a shield, but I doubt you could do as OP does and consider him one of the "last" to go visorless.
