And suddenly our center department does not seem that bad... I like Lander.

He will not score 6 pts (3G 3A) here... I just posted in the other threads about this (there seems to be a few now) that he's not an offensive guy... No 60 in center scoring has been below 0.5 ppg for several seasons now, and I think that's normal. Let's just not have too high expectations in Lander right now... He's more of a Callahan type of player imo.

Honestly, I'm just hoping he can eventually replace Horcoff (which is not as easy as people make it out to be)

What is with people and the harti love he has underperformed and not produced everytime hes been up future 3rd liner tops... if jones goes smyth gets moved up a line. Also petrell is really underapreciated. Does exactly what we need from him.... him and brown do their job every night.

I'm thinking something like this probably:

Hall - Nugent-Hopkins - Eberle
Paajarvi - Gagner - Hemsky
Smyth/Petrell - Horcoff - Yakupov
Petrell/Smyth - Lander - Brown

I would think they just have Lander scratched to begin though.

As it goes with Lander, one thing that I liked about him in his brief stint before the injury was his willingness to shoot the puck. I don't know if it's that he has a deceptive wrist shot or what. He seemed to take a couple goalies off guard with it when he would shoot on a short-handed rush.

Have we tried Paajarvi-Gagner-Hartikainen?

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Paajarvi-Gagner-Hartikainen
Yakupov-Horcoff-Hemsky
Petrell/Smyth-Lander-Brown

I think they tried it earlier in the year and all it was was board play in offensive zone but they couldn't do anything with the puck

If I had to make a guess... I'd say that Harti heads back overseas this summer... or else the Oilers deal him to another team.

I get the vibe that he wants to either be on the Oilers roster or wants to play elsewhere.

Lander had a tough break (literally)... as he was playing decently, then got injured early in the year. I'm sure the Oilers would like to see if he can continue to develop so they call him up and see if he can contribute. He'll play 4th line centre instead of Smyth. I agree... we'll also likely see a trade shortly which will free up a roster spot as well... no sense in having Lander in the pressbox as he might as well stay in OKC if he isn't going to be in the lineup.

Are you Gregor? :sarcasm:

@JasonGregor
#Oilers recall Lander after 6-point night. He's played well, but do you change a lineup that has won 3 straight. Trade coming?
I could lie, but no...

Jones imo, would be the one to sit, if this is the purpose of bringing Lander up. Krueger may want to have Smyth back with Horcoff and give Lander some C-time on the 4th line. Lander and Petrell has worked well at times. I wonder what a 4th line trio of Petrell Lander Brown might look like.

I'd fap if he became Callahan.

Whaa? Everything indicates that the Oilers are willing to give Hartikainen every opportunity to stick with the big club.

Oilers have patience but I don't know if Harti does.

He's 23 in a little over a month and I don't know if he wants to keep playing in the AHL indefinitely. Realistically I don't know if he's at the stage that he can legitimately stick on an NHL roster... not enough offense, not enough physicality. He's really not speedy and is not a defensive specialist either... doesn't play on the PK.

What exactly does Harti bring to the table except decent boardwork? He's hard to knock off the puck but has stone hands and really isn't strong in many other areas.

I'm not writing him off as a career AHLer quite yet... but I also get the feeling he wants to either stick on the Oilers roster or explore other options. Maybe I'm wrong but I think he's likely in his last season here as an Oiler.

I like lander as a fourth line center, he seems to have a bit of yappiness to his game which is something this team seems to be missing.

Yes keep Brown. At least he fights and plays physical.

At this point it comes down to Petrell or Jones because we all know Smyth will stay in and Brown is in to do what he does because nobody else does it.

Petrell is definitely the more effective player.

It can't be that hard to find someone to run around in his own zone without purpose, pass the puck into defencemen's butt cheeks and watch from a afar as our young stars get slashed, hacked and driven hard into the boards.

Hopefully Brown. He was awful last night. Dude flat out can't play the game and doesn't even do his other job.

That's a helluva idea! Let's take him out of the lineup so that a basement dwelling Flames team will take repeated runs at our skilled guys the next 2 games. As for him not fighting last night, I guess you missed what Krueger had to say? That said I will give you the fact that he handled the puck like a hand grenade last night.
