Well Laine really let us all down in February. He squandered the best opportunity he's had so far in his career to put up goals and now there's only one game left for him in February. And unfortunately it's against Nashville, one of the teams Laine has had the hardest time to score against. The few goals he's managed to score against Nashville so far have been lucky bounces as well. And on top of that Nashville has played incredible hockey lately. We have to go all the way back to before Christmas to find any team scoring more than 4 goals against them in a game...

Mulletman you silly goose. Just because Laine had these few lucky bounces, you don't have to let everyone know!

You're the only one let down, because you're the only person who expected this to happen. No Jets fan is upset with 8 goals in 12 games.

Really great month for Laine. Despite my hatred for the Matthews vs Laine comparison I've liked comparing point totals this year. Seems to be a lock that Laine will outscore Matthews, I really hope to see them both play an 82 game season soon. Another good comparison is Ehlers/Nylander.

Mulletman was almost very prophetic here. Laine is heating up, his training in the off season is starting to pay dividends. And with Statsny finding early chemistry with his new line mates. Laine in an off year is closing in on 40 goals and a 70 points season. And he is not even 20 yet.

It would be insane if he scored the 40 goals while playing in the second or third line practically the entire season. I'm not sold on the idea that he will cause of the X factor (management). When player's TOI is between 13-15 minutes when he is red hot and on nearly 2ppg pace from the past six games, imagine what it would be should the hot streak expire (closer to 12 min/game?). Maurice apparently already stated that Stastny may not even remain between Ehlers & Laine and that was after their first (great) game together. Scoring 40 goals certainly hasn't been made easy for him, but should he reach this milestone despite the odds and circumstances, that would be something truly astonishing.

Dude, there's plenty of people upset with how Laine has performed this year. No matter how you twist and turn things both Laine and Matthews have been huge disappointments this season. Laine and Matthews were supposed to be dominant superstars this year. Instead they've regressed and are being outscored by William Karlsson when we're entering March... :shakehead

Why would it be unreasonable? Last year Matthews was 20th in Points while Laine was 30th while missing 9 games. Right now Matthews is 53rd while missing 13 games and Laine is 44th. And they're not doing much better when it comes to goals either. Last year Matthews was 3rd in goals, now he's 15th. Laine is 7th like last year but he hasn't missed any games this year like last year.

We like to make up excuse after excuse for Matthews and Laine. But the cold hard fact is they haven't performed like they should've. Everybody had Matthews as a 80 Point two way monster that should score about 45 goals this season, While Laine was supposed to flirt with 50 goals and be slightly above point per game at worst. The only positive from this year are that they haven't been as bad as Eichel...

just because they have 1 good season doesnt mean thats how they will perform every year.. how many times have u seen players have amazing years then disappear ? like i said just cause "many" ppl expected them to doesnt make it reasonable

We're not talking about guys who has been in the League for 5+ years and were never expected to be that good. Both matthews and laine were supposed to be elite talents. Just look at McDavid. Injured in his first year but was still above Point per game in the games he played. Then he Went on to win the Art Ross in his second season. Crosby had a good rookie season too back in the day and then he Went on to win the Art Ross in his second season. Stamkos went from a 46 Point player to a 90+ Point Rocket winning player in his second year. Point is Matthews and Laine should've done a lot better this year...

crosby and mcdavid were generational and stamkos 90+ points is like some one getting 70ish ponts now..

the stats they are putting up are pretty damn impressive dude.. do u expect laine to be a 100 point winger and mathews to be as good as mcdavid? like ai said a little unreasonable

Dude stamkos had 95 Points and was 5th in Points while "winning" the Rocket. That's like Laine or Matthews putting up 39+34=73 Points right now. Instead they've put up 31+22=53 and 28+22=50...

Laine and Matthews should've better stats right now since they're both elite talents. These stats are not impressive to anybody else than people like you, who are easily impressed.
