Laine benched last minutes of second period and all of the third period.
He dogged it like you see once a game from many players.
Problem is, Torts doesn't tolerate it.

I saw the news on Twitter, I have no clue what's going, hence why I'm asking the question on the main boards. It seems huge to me and I see nothing on it...
Maybe roslovic ends up as the keeper here. Great start for him.

Last shift was with 6:19 left in 2nd. He evidently failed to defend backside of net and let the Canes player have a golden chance that hit crossbar

Benched the last 26 minutes of the game. Maurice would bench him the last 5 minutes to protect a lead, but never like this. The camera cut to him half way through the period and he had the smirk - he is definitely pissed off. The thing is, it worked. CBJ won without him, or even despite him. This is a very bad indicator for his future, IMO.
Indeed, he was, as is very customary for him, floating in the defensive zone which lead to a goal. Tortorella, an old school guy obviously, did not take kindly to it and Laine was subsequently benched for the remaining 1.5 periods.
This was inevitable and probably it's best it happened this early, Torts has sent his message and now we'll see if things can work with Laine or not. It has been made clear his normal work ethic won't fly so either he makes changes, or he or Torts will be a goner.

Makes sense, really odd positioning by him there. He should be between the hash marks. Ready to help out in the slot. And he’s just standing there.
