Definitely, if the team is bottom he will deal A Petry type of player, if not then I really doubt he will.

Let's just say it would be more face-saving to do that although I can already see someone chiming in and say that MB is shameless, lol.

That's an excellent point.

For once, we'd be shopping for an asset that is in abundance. Maybe Petry alone gets it done.
Exactly...this isn't like shopping for a top 6C.

Left handed, puck moving Dmen aren't exactly a rare commodity. It shouldn't be *that* difficult to revamp that side of our D.

and that is why I don't think Mb will do anything meaningful yet. He wants to make the playoff so badly with a team that simply can't pass 2 rounds with the current lineup. Honestly I highly doubt he will deal Petry for that reason alone.

if he can deal a top 4 LHD, not too young but not too old ( I would aim between 22-26) without dealing out top 6 and prospects then I will be more than happy.

My top choice:
1. Manson or montour PLEASE I'm high AF on them
2. edmundson
3. Skjei/Maatta
1. Travis Sanheim
2. Sami Niku
3. Christian Djoos

Brady Skej would be #1 on my list but I can't see why the Ranger would want to move him without the Habs paying a steep price, which they can't afford right now IMO.

BTW - Neither Manson nor Montour are left handed

I haven't looked into who would be a reasonable target.

Are these personal preferences only or are the teams that own these players, in a position of strength to deal them? Are they all PMDs?

I Know Montour is open, Maatta I did ask them for a trade on their board and they were pretty much 60/40 on it.
Skjei definitely needs a change of scenery. For Edmundson I highly doubt St-Louis would deal him, an amazing 25 years old Shutdown D

Ya They both play on the RD but I would try Monty on the left side, I'm just extremely high on both of them.

If not there is Mahura that I also like.
The Ducks just know how to draft amazing shutdown fluid skater on their D

That's an interesting option but wouldn't it signal a tank move? The GM said repeatedly that his goal was to make the playoffs this year.

Unless the return would be a talented top 4 LH PMD or better who could slot into the lineup right away, then it would be balancing out the D pairings as we're evidently weak on the left side.
I imagine it would be an LD who would step in right away, ya.

The obvious decision for Bergevin is to isolate Mete to the AHL but I think he becomes Weber’s partner as they seemed to play well together last year.

They do need to get rid of someone soon.

I think the obvious choice is Alzner but I doubt he is handled this way.

One question to ponder- why is Benn immune to the press box?

Because he has been the best D not named Petry since the start of the season. That's not saying much, I agree, but at least he has played at the level of a real #6. it's not his fault if he's asked to play the role of a #2!

Agreed. I think he's hated on a bit much. It seems after every game you read OMG Benn almost screwed up or just about did blah blah blah. He's not Larry Robinson but he's not Patrick Traverse either. The only game I didn't read complaints about him was the 5 2 loss the other night when he was +2 haha

I guess this is a fair angle...he is asked to play more than he is capable of playing. Not every D is good enough to play against the top lines.

Brownie points to anyone who can give me not one, but two (one is literal and the other one figurative) definitions of the word "kulak" as it's pronounced in Russian. :D
My grandfather was a wealthy land owner in the Ukraine before the Bolsheviks took over. He called my grandmother a Kulak when they would argue. I was told it meant “peasant” lol

I don't think we'd fare all that well trading with the Rangers. Those guys are sharks and would eat MB alive.

Nailed it. So concisely too.

What is a social traitor?

A social media user? Someone who backstabs you with a smile?

Or maybe someone who is so good at socializing that he tells you to go f*** yourself and you end up thanking him for it.

It's something from the Leninist/Stalinist vocabulary that the term "kulak" translates to as one of its definitions. There's a lot of context here obviously, feel free to look it up if you wish.

In short, it means someone who defies/betrays the social class they are deemed to represent by the governing body. The latter distinction is very important here.

The antithesis of freedom, where you are at fault for transgressing an artificial construct. Something considered normal in a communist or fascist regime, right?

Normal? No, I'm afraid not.

Rather, it was an arbitrary judgement that was passed on many by those that stood to benefit from it. There was/is nothing positive that came out of that.

The human condition is a construct. Nothing artificial about the way we define ourselves. There would be no “constructs” unless we were here. Kooky I know. Take your observation further and that is not a criticism.

I will have to disagree, as I didn't read @Runner77 stating such.

I believe he meant a societal/political/etc construct in his context as that of being artificial, something that does not correlate with us...well...being.

Depends on what you think as well being.

I understood that it's not the individual defining himself but how other individuals within a governing authority are imposing their definition of the individual upon him and penalizing him for not living up to it. Is that not artificial enough for you?
