Just a slight reminder.....there is a 50 contract limits. WE have a gazillion of prospects scheduled to arrive in the near future. At WORST, this team needs a f*ckING ECHL AFFILIATION!!!! You know? A team that is supposed to build THROUGH THE DRAFT to not have a ECHL team...
15 picks so far in next draft.
8 years ago, Habs section was the worst one, and parity wasn't that tight . Now , look at the standing and you will see that top NHL teams are in the East and in our section Boston and Tampa . Than you will see Washington and Pittsburg . Do i need to explain more about that fact ?He did so well and yet the team is worse every year the more moves he makes.

Few years ago , our center corp was Dagenais, old Plekanec, Eller and i don't even remember who . Now it is Suzuki, Danault, KK, Poelhing . They are good but young, so it takes time .
Our main problem right now is that the back up goalies were not able to help Price ; Kingkaid + Lindgren have a ridiculous total of 2 victories this season and Price is playing too often . Once again,we have a young goalie in the AHL that isn't too far but that have to play and beleive me, Primeau is going to be a very good one .
There are several reasons to see that we are going in the good direction , but if you just look at the standing rank , of course you won't see them
Besides trading these scrubs ( oh don't forget Weal) how exactly is this going to make us better next year or in the future? He needs to get rid of bigger names Petry,Weber,Tatar etc. to have any hope for the futureExcellent, now onto Folin, Thompson, Weise and maybe Cousins.
He will not have a big role in Was. I see him as an insurance against injuries more then anything. A nice depth player for a long run.His run in Washington is going to prove it.
I don't see it happening. If I were Kovy, I wouldn't backtrack to any team that traded me away.

I'm okay with this if...
1) It's to do Kovy a favour
2) We're also shipping out Tatar and Petry
If this is just an assets move and they're still going to try for the playoffs next year. I'd have rather kept Kovy because we actually need someone like him. Still can't say it isn't good value since we basically got a third for nothing.
I agree , we all knew there would be a mutual agreement trade when Kovy signed w the Habs.IMO, there was an agreement between Kovalchuk and Bergevin. I highly doubt Kovalchuk will hold a grudge, now that he's been traded.
Add the third pick from Kovalchuk and you get 15 picks

A third is "almost" nothing.
Timmins has been here 17 years but we will not count the last two drafts because the jury is still out on those prospects. These are the players (with NHL time) he picked up in the third round the first 15 years:Kind of disappointed, but that sums up the season. Late 3rd round would be lucky to make the NHL. Should have kept him for that price... He was the last fun player to watch so the rest of the games are going to be even more boring now.
When the chances are taken by a scouting department that knows what it's doing, yes. Alas, it's the habs' scouting department and it relies on the Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe strategy for making player selections at the draftQuantity gives you more chances at getting quality
