I was more comparing them in a way that both can't find their place in the lineup. Like Ghetto with us and now in COL. 2 small talented wingers not good enough for top 6 but doesn't fit on the 4th line.
I see, this I agree with.

Agostino did good yesterday. Hes fine on the fourth line, Id say. Just gotts upgrade on Chaput. Maybe Peca or Hudon would look great next to Agy.

You overestimate the importance of Fos. Whats good at winning FO if you give up possession right away lol

I didn't talk about me. I talked about coaches. They want players they can use that will provide them a certainty. Sorry I don't know how to explain it in english... but that's why players like Reilly and Scherbak have problems staying in the lineup.

Chaput brings a faceoff wins 60% of the time so if they NEED a faceoff win... they COULD use him.

He reminds me of Dale Weeeise, I'm pretty sure you put Agostino in the top 6 as a bandaid and he'll score a few.

Yeah Weise is a good comparison, he actually had some underrated hands too. Scored a bunch of nice deflection and other setup goals when he was paired with forwards who understood how to use him. That was something Therrien understood but Quennville and the Flyers didn't, who just used him as a 4th line goon.

I know. I just hate when fans get a bit excited when we win a few games. We should be stoic at best and base line MB hating until we win the Cup. Everything else is loser behaviour. Enjoyment and VERY SMALL over excitement over role players is decadence and destines you for a life of disappointment and mediocrity.

Remember when Dlo was super duper awesome?

4th line plugs getting appreciation threads..I just find it comical. But it's all good man.

lol. Did you see the comments on this thread? They're not exactly hyperbolically over praising him. What's the highest praise? The Weise comparisons? I just don't think you have to be as vigilant in making sure the MB hippies get out of hand and make the fan base as a whole look bad lol.

Hey man, it's cool. I think Agostino is interchangeable with about 150 other players but it's all good.

Maybe you lack reading skills but it's more about 'Player discussion'. You know it's a hockey board ?

There was no prefix when I first answered and it felt way more like an appreciation thread than a discussion one.

of course it is lol. I'm not the one saying it isn't because apparently the board was going 'mental'? I'm not saying you have to like Agostino but why be so snarky is my point. Especially when your point isn't even in line with what was going on.

Board is going mental because to sense I get from reading it is how awesome Gallagher, Tatar, Drouin, Domi, Agostino, Reilly, Weber, Juulsen, Shaw, Byron, and almost everyone else are just awesome.
I think Price and Danault are maybe the only two who've been crapped on regularly.
So it's a wonder how we aren't leading the league right now.

Sure it was a snarky comment, because I find it comical. We win 3 in 5 versus two tanking teams and he's back to being Man Mountain, the player who never loses a puck battle...like ever, ever.
As I said, I just find it funny and giving my two cents.

I'd only qualify this as a modern day Weise. Agostino is a smoother skater, which suites the modern game more. Weise was more rugged, which suited the past game.

Chaput sucks, good on FO or not he should go. Hes not doing anything. If you want someone to be a filler and win FO call up Froese... at least hes a bit better .

What don't you like about Chaput's game?

When he's on the 4th line, they tend to keep the puck in the opposition's zone with the cycle. If there's one thing I hate in a 4th line it's when they are continually hemmed in their own zone. I haven't seen that with a Chaput led 4th line. Also, he's great on the penalty kill with his aggressive forecheck and pressure on the puck carrier in our zone.

If you could quote me all these people who thought Agostino is awesome before your first comment, I'd like to see them. All I saw was pretty much 'he's doing a good job' and 'decent 4th liner'. Like I said the highest was someone comparing him to Weise. I just don't see the need for snark with the faint praise he was getting on this thread. Your reaction just seems so disproportionate with what was actually being said.

I guess I'm not watching the same team because the fourth line always gets hemmed in our zone.

Better than Peca ? Sure... but thats not good .

It's fine man, there are two pages in this thread. I was harsh, fine. We can stop wasting time about this.

Agostino has looked better and better since he got called up, and I think he might have found a niche on the 4th line. He looks like he can be somewhat threatening offensively, but he's got no help whatsoever on that front.

I think that CJ has been trying to find his Boston equivalent ever since losing them in the Bruins' heyday (Paille-Campbell-Thornton) and he might have found the lite version of that line. He really seems to have a soft spot for players on their 2nd or 3rd chance in the NHL for different organizations.

We've never seen role players or minor moves get way more attention than they likely should before on here? lol. Well you say you want to drop it but then still seem to insist that you were justified in what you said lol it's kind of frustrating. If you can quote me the absurd praise for Agostino I'll gladly apologize and admit I was wrong.

Froese sucked on faceoffs last year (44%).

You underestimate how much coaches want a FO specialist on their team.

True. One thing we absolutely need to clean up is our end zone coverage on face offs. It seems we are getting burnt every game on a clear cut loss. Special teams and set plays are a huge mess IMO and much of it has to do with not starting with the puck or at the very least not creating that 50-50 play that can stifle an advantage.
