One thing is certain that he would get a fair bit more in UFA.

Deal expires when he's 33 so it'll be interesting to see if he can justify $3.2 million in year 4.

My gut tells me the same, but basically it came in a bit less than Ferland's but signed two years older. Hopefully it's front loaded in case we need to move him in the later years.

The idea is to replace McDavid wingers that are overachieving. Not overpay them.

This is a good deal. Thought 3.25 would of been perfect, less than i expected. Maybe one year too long but we won't know till a few years

I’d rather it be 3 years but it’s ok. Since he’s cleaned up his life his stats are much better and he’s a nice fit with McDavid. Down the road he’s an effective 3rd liner. Cap is going to go through the roof and this is NHL average salary right now. He deserves this.

Yes there is. Did you see what Pittsburgh paid Tanev? Or the Ferland contract?

Kassian would’ve gotten more as a UFA, plain and simple.
