I literally got the notification from TheScore saying the Habs and Canes are among those interested and internally let out a “what the f***” for two reasons.

1) doesn’t Carolina have enough defensemen?

...He thinks the game far too slowly (which is something I don't think will be fixed by a trade). There's a reason even when we were 11-12 defenders deep earlier this season, Honka STILL wasn't getting any playing time. ...Too much hesitation in his game.

Not really "news" Dallas has been trying to trade him for 6 months.

I think it's more Carolina's management roasted Bergevin and his terrible offersheet and now they see how he still doesn't really try to improve the habs, so Carolina steps in and tries to take away the options so Bergevin will be forced to actually be aggressive for once.

Gardiner is decent, but not the top pairing d we need.

Honka just isn't good.

If Bergevin keeps trending like that, then please Carolina keep intervening.

I can't say I know much about said player nor the expectations of either fan base. Maybe start a new thread and see what opinions of the viability of such a trade might be?
