I still think they let Peterson cook for one more year at least, allow them to get closer to clearing one of Bailey/Baptiste/Rodrigues from the Amerks before making a decision. Some versatility there, thinking more on the wing than at center obviously, but the finish in dirty areas is very appealing.

If anyone gets the American Sports Network - You can watch Judd Peterson/Will Borgan and St. Cloud State play Colorado College right now.

Update - Judd Peterson/Will Borgan and St. Cloud State destroyed Colorado College 9-3 last night.
Judd Peterson had a goal on his only shot on goal-no assists-was a +1 and was 4 for 8 on face-offs.
Will Borgan had no goals/no assists-no shots on goal-was a +1 and had a two min interference penalty-resulted in a Colorado College PP that St. Cloud State killed.

The big story of the game was St. Cloud State scoring three shorthanded goals on a five minute Colorado College PP in the second period which resulted in St. Cloud State being down 1-0 to St. Cloud State leading 3-1. After Colorado College cut the lead to 4-2 early in the third period-St. Cloud State put the game away with four goals (including a fourth shorthanded goal) in a seven minute span.

St. Cloud State/Judd Peterson/Will Borgan now open play in the first round of the NCHC playoffs with a best-of-three series against Western Michigan University at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota - Friday, March 11-Saturday, March 12-Sunday, March 13.

This kid might really make that 2012 draft just a little better. Looked great today and Lambert and his linemates really said some great things about him. Talk about found money...

He's still a real longshot, and certainly no guarantee to even earn a contract, but if he can become a solid AHLer that would be awesome.

I think he's earned at least an AHL contract at this point. It seems he has really turned the corner.

I think maybe he did fall off the Sabres radar but then they probably got some viewings when they were scouting Borgen and figured he deserved another look. Even Tim Murray had mentioned he went to a game at St. Cloud. Good for him.

He might have some trade value if he can put up better junior year numbers. Could see him getting a contract. unsure if it would be a BUF vs AHL only contract.

This is the make or break year for Peterson in the Sabres organization. He's going to be 23 in September - meaning that if he is signed at the end of this season, he will be 24. This year is his last shot, IMO. Have to wonder if he might not get offered and AHL deal. Might be better for him in the A or E than another year of college.

I was shocked to learn that not every Sabres draftee is invited to development camp. I assumed all were whether that player has shown progression in their respective leagues or not.

Good on Peterson not just for taking a step forward and getting invited to camp, but performing well while there.

SCSU had their CIS exhibition on Sunday and won 6-2 vs Regina. Peterson scored their fourth goal to make it 4-2 in the second and will continue as SCSU's top PK'er according to Motzko: "Our penalty kill is wide open right now. Judd Peterson is going to kill (penalties), but I don't know who's with him and I don't know who's behind him."
A transition goal. Jackson got it to Benson, who got it to the middle of the R zone. He lost control of the puck briefly and then shovelled it over to the left wing to Peterson, who snapped in a quick shot to increase SCSU’s lead to 4-2.

Peterson started the year with points in each of last weekend's losses to Mankato, then added one hat trick this weekend in their wins over the Gophers .. 4+1 through 4 GP.
