$2.5M ain’t a little next year and JTC has been bad this year.

Yes, JTC has had a bad year, but Nieto has 7 points in 28 games (worse than Compher, while missing more games), and only had 3 points in the playoffs last year (Compher had 3g/5a). There's no rational way to describe Nieto as anything other than a downgrade.

And, we can save $2.8m by replacing PEB and Calvert with guys on ELCs, while probably getting similar/better production than we've seen from either of them this year. Seems like that's the smarter choice to free up ~$2.5m in cap space.

That’s going to be an “and” Calvert & Peb leaving. In addition to Whomever Seattle takes and dumping JTC it’s still going to be tight unless EJ gets LTIRed.

I expect EJ to be on LTIR until proven otherwise. He's struggled with injuries for the last 5 years and has missed all but 4 games this season, and looked bad in those 4 games. How much faith do you have that he's going to be healthy next season?

I also think that Gru, Landy and Makar may take team friendly discounts on their next contracts, in an effort to try to win multiple Cups. I'd like to see how negotiations go before making space we may not actually need.
