Huberdeau is somebody you want on your left wing. If you need one, now is your chance.

But think Vancouver should go all in on him for the left wing, but I think Florida wants a star goalie.

Make it a 3way

Habs
Jonathan Huberdeau
Markus Nutivaara
Michael Matheson

CBJ
Andrew Shaw
Ryan Poehling
Habs 1st 2019
CBJ 2nd 2019
Florida 1st 2019
Derick Brassard
Henrik Borgström

FLA
Sergei Brobovski
Atermi Panarin
Noah Juulsen

Impressive, Canadies gave up the worst players and ended up with player 2 (Hub) player 4 (matheson), differnce cant be a first and Pholeing, comparng what Florida gave up.

Wierd that Canadiens got exactly what they wanted without giving up more then a first and a good prospect..

Chris Tanev + 2020 1st ++ ???(Juolevi/Tyler Madden) I dont know what. I always feel Canucks never quite have enough depth of things to give up to make it worthwhile trading for guys like this, I mean, we could give up Hughes, but that'd be pointless and leave us back at square one with the defence

I wouldn't be re-signing Hoffman so I'd trade him for futures, and after that they'd have ton of futures to deal with this summer if there's someone available.
I think hubs has a better chance of getting a dman that is less available than picks would get you tbh .

Huberdeau is a pretty substantial upgrade on Tatar.

If you could get a player with term and a good contract for a 1st and either Brook or Juulsen, And whatever else.

You have

Drouin-Domi-Shaw
Huberdeau-Danault-Gallagher
Tatar-Kotkaniemi-Lehkonen
Byron-Thompson-Armia/Weise

That's a team that can beat the Leafs.

Yes LD is a need too. A blockbuster for Huberdeau and Matheson might get the Habs fans dreaming of glory days. But who knows what Tallon is up to.

Lol, no it isn’t.

Prefer to keep Roslovic and move Ehlers if we’re bringing in Huberdeau.
Similar contract except Ehlers has 2 more years on his, but has no full NMC years.
Just have to adjust picks accordingly.

Assuming this is a summer deal . . .

Isles offer Wahlstrom, Pelech, Skarek and their 2020 1st (I'm assuming the 2019 draft is behind us) for Huberdeau and a 2nd.

:FLA
-Dumping Reimer's contract
-Bobrovsky
-Panarin
*Both unsigned, Florida cannot speak to their people so they are taking a risk. There is a strong expectation they will re-sign.

:CBJ
-Huberdeau
-Brassard (Unsigned)
-Quick (NTC added to his deal)

:LAK
-2019 Conditional CBJ 2nd (Becomes a 1st if Columbus make the conference final with Quick winning 5 games or more)
-B or C prospect.
-2019 PIT 2nd (For taking Reimer)

CBJ aren't going to let Florida talk to both of those players, because with Bobrovsky's no trade clause, the Blue Jackets could quickly lose control of the situation if both sides talk, don't strike a deal, and then Bobrovsky won't waive for anywhere else. Florida giving up Huberdeau, and Brassard is way less than full value for Panarin+Bob, so it becomes a calculated risk. They also give LAK a 2nd for taking on Reimer's contract.

A 2nd with potential to become a 1st and a prospect seems more than fair for Quick. LAK aren't getting a home run return on Quick because due to his contract structure and the potential for cap recapture, they are only going to want to deal him to a contender somewhere he wants to be. Assuming this is allowed, Jonathan Quick gets a no trade clause added into his deal as a function of being dealt to Columbus so that they can't just turn around and deal him anywhere a year or two down the line, leading to him retiring when he's making an average of 3M during the final years of his contract.

Columbus adds in Huberdeau as a long term cost controlled 1st line winger. They get Brassard as at least a rental to bolster their offense, and they replace Bobrovsky with Quick for the next few years. To do that, they downgrade down the stretch since Panarin/Bob is a better duo than Huberdeau/Quick, and they also give up a 2nd round pick+prospect.

So giving up a first line winger for two UFAs? We aren't even going to the playoffs lmao. Makes zero sense.

Huberdeau for Paryako and a small plus could make alot of sense if you're confident panarin slots in next season.

Panarin just fired his agent for Bobrovsky's agent. This Florida stuff has been out there for weeks. If Florida makes this trade, it's a calculated risk to re-sign them. I don't want to use the "T" word, but let's not kid ourselves, if they make that trade they do it because they know they won't have any issue inking the pairing to contracts.

Florida can wait until July 1st to make a play for both of them rather than losing assets in a trade, but that prevents them from offering 8 years. It also prevents Florida from controlling the situation in that other teams can talk to both players leading up to July 1st and a team could come out of nowhere and offer an absurd offer that throws a wrench into Florida's plans.

This could get real interesting if the Panthers have assurance Panarin and Bob will sign there (maybe Panarin joining Bob's agent is a hint?).

That changes the game completely because now it would make sense for the Panthers to give up a good roster player - exactly what Jarmo wants.

If the Jackets can get Huberdeau out of all this that's not even bad all things considered.

Also the Panthers would get those 2 guys now to help with a big playoff push and who knows where it could take them.

I could also see the Jackets taking on Reimer. Korpisalo will need support and Reimer has a lot of experience in the league. And well, they pretty much have to swap goalies anyway.

Huberdeau, 2020 1st round pick (not in 2019 in case the Panthers miss the playoffs) and Reimer for Panarin and Bobrovsky (contracts either signed immediately or handshake to sign them later).

Jackets still ice a pretty good top line in Huberdeau - Dubois - Atkinson, and get a future 1st + Reimer becomes the backup for Korpi

Panthers upgrade Huberdeau to Panarin and get their #1 goalie for years to come.

That would make sense.

And the concept of Florida not being guaranteed to win the services of both Bob & Panarin come this summers Free Agency race with actual big market teams involved, doesn't seem to resonate with Flordians.

It's not guaranteed either way if they are adamant on testing the FA waters. There's just no point in trading for those two unless some playoff team wants to dish out two 1st's for two months or so of Bread/Bob.

Florida also gains the 8th year via acquiring them both prior to the trade deadline.

There's also a major issue that if either are dealt else where as rentals, there is no guarantee they get to July 1st, even if there has already either been tampering, or at least proxy tampering through the media about how Florida wants to sign both. Whichever is dealt to a team other than FLA might get comfortable with their new team, settled in, and get offered an exceptional 8 year deal that other teams on July 1st would have difficulty beating over 7 years.

we understand it just fine. We are pretty unified in saying that we'd rather take our chances on july 1st then give up a 70 point first line winger to guarantee it.

Even if Panarin and Bob would sign early, why would they get rid of Huberdeau on such a good contract? I refuse to believe this to be true until it happens.
