Huberdeau is a very good player on a very good contract. Don't know why they would even think about trading him. Even if Panarin and Bob are coming in the summer, having Huberdeau and Panarin as the star wingers to complement Barkov and Trocheck as the star centres makes for a very potent offensive core. Maybe if they get a really good cost controlled defenseman coming back?

If Panarin was willing to sign an extension then Huberdeau for Panarin & Bobrovsky could make some sense. The fact Panarin changed his agent now could point to him being willing to work out a deal if there is a team he would like to be on.

I still don't understand why Florida would consider this. Go after players in UFA, find other ways to drop salary rather than moving guys like Huberdeau. But then, they've shown they are willing to do really stupid stuff in the past.

Agreed. If you're going to cut costs don't immediately jump to the trading Huberdeau route. It's like running out of gas and deciding to buy a new car.

Huberdeau is really the guy they pick to ship out? Good lord. He would get a haul of a package, but he is exactly the kind of player you KEEP if you are contending.
