He’s actually this managements Julien Brisebois to Stevie Y in TBay circa 2011

Stevie Y hired Brisebois. He wasn't hired before Yzerman and stayed on board. Yzerman was hired May 2010 and Brisebois was hired two months later in July 2010.

The only comparison I made between Sedgwich and Carriere is because Larry was hired by the previous management group and he stayed on with Bergevin after he was hired in May 2012. We can also say the same with Timmins, who also stayed over from the previous management group. Actually, Timmins was hired by Andre Savard the year before he stepped down and Gainey was hired. So technically, TT served under 3 GMs.

I said it here last week, Habs are moving toward the baseball model where only one GM is a former player, Billy Beane, and even he is formally (college) educated. The era of uneducated ex-players running pro sports franchises is coming to an end. Too much money at play. Not saying all former players are not smart but formal education is now a requirement.

So at first glance it seems we've retained through promotion a homegrown exec performing decently in his duties.

Good to know we're back on the better hiring track with this one.

Why are you blaming Sedgwick for things that depended on Bergevin?

The unused cap space certainly wasn't his fault, but it didn't give him much work for a bunch of years. When they had to manage the cap they ended up with problems that prevented them from using players. The buck stopped with Bergevin but it's not exactly a ringing endorsement for the capologist.

yeah, he's the guy who built the team. He was told to make it work and he did.

Well he mostly did. Last regular season they had some serious problems. Very possible that he explained those problems to Bergevin who overdid stuff anyway, so it doesn't necessarily make him look bad but I don't see how it makes him look good.

I don't know the guy at all, no ax to grind, certainly don't have anyone else to propose, just generally taking the negative view.

Sedgwick was doing his best to answer all questions in French in the same language. But he had sometimes trouble finding his words. And he almost said "shit" when he was having trouble finding the right word.

I hear you.

For what's it's worth, dealing with the cap is not something that is as simple as having cap space or not, it's daily grind as cap space is not accrued per year but per day, meaning every little detail matters.

wonder if the Habs would ask Weber to retire after this season, as next year he drops to 3M and then 3 years at 1M. After making over 120M or so, it's not like he needs the money.
Weber will never retire while his contrat is open. No one would say no to get millions at home. even if you have a billion

What ? We where always able to find cap space to add a player because of his job and MB was always well aware of every detail of the CBA because of him

"Please retire, we'll re-hire you as some sort of special-advisor and you can stay home like Lecavalier. Well pay you the same amount that's left on your contract currently. Kthx bye."
