Of course. He's allowed to ice the puck on the PK.Nemeth is a steady #5 who can play PK.

There's a reason the only team to offer Nemeth term and big money was DetroitNemeth is a steady #5 who can play PK. Zadorov is terrible on the PK and a marginal #4 to #6.
90 percent of people would be wrong.
But there are power forwards out there yet to be traded for!Anyone who hasn't voted #5 at this point should be ashamed of themselves.

Uh, no...
He still counted on Jost, Compher, and EJ to play above their heads. Also no one expected Graves to be filling the role he is currently. I'm sorry but he left too many holes that luck is filling right now.
We'll see what he does at the TDL, and how the playoffs go before I even consider bumping it to a 5.
This is key. People around here think that in order to be a contender you have to have a perfectly balanced team with no weaknesses, but that's just not true. Chicago won their last cup with two defensemen they trusted for no more than 10 minutes a game in the finals. LA won their last cup after squeaking into the playoffs in the 8 spot. Every team that wins has weaknesses, you just build a good core and take your best shot, and hope for some luck along the way.Every team has holes in it, even Stanley Cup winners. Some will be filled at the deadline, and others next off season.

Not worth the prices that forwards were selling for today, Joe said he wouldn't do any pure rentals, they had to have term. Historically the last pure rental that worked and pushed a team over the edge was Antoine Vermette 2015 and they gave up a first round pick and prospect for him. The other 95 percent of the time trading top picks and prospects for rental players is just terrible asset management. Especially for the young and upcoming AVs where this is the first real year of their windowThought he should of done more last year, but this year is a true competitive year and they absolutely need it.
I hope it isn't quiet and mediocre.
League is pretty even now. If you get to the final 4 it's an accomplishment. Not worth the prices that forwards were selling for today, Joe said he wouldn't do any pure rentals, they had to have term. Surprised that Sakic goes into this year's playoffs with that much cap room. Figured he would have done more in the off-season given the typical premium that comes with the TDL.
I always thought that JT Miller would have been an excellent target for the Avs. They should have been more than ready to match or beat the Canuck's offer. Miller had a couple of 50 point seasons with the Rangers who were not a high scoring team. Versatile player who can play all forward positions. Signed until MacKinnon's contract ends, so was perfectly setup.I'm honestly disappointed that Sakic didn't manage to weaponize this at any point. That being said, looking around the league I don't really see any expiring big money deals that teams would be willing to pay to get rid of. Marleau was the last one I guess.

I think that would have been a good add for a 1st, 3rd, plus another pick or a 1st and 2nd. Probably better than using those assets at the TDL. They had the cap space to do it.
Exactly. It's easy to say "just turn that cap space into picks", but there have to be bad contracts out there to buy.I'm honestly disappointed that Sakic didn't manage to weaponize this at any point. And the one with more trade value this offseason.Choosing the more talented of two bottom-pairing defenders will not make or break the Avalanche.
