My expanding gut likes this a LOT. I'm hoping that he can bring some energy and optimism out of Stud and the other
wanna-B's. Great opportunity for him to shine and show that what happened in Dallas was a glitch in his life and that he's beaten the beast (before anyone lectures, I know it's a lifelong battle that never ends).

In Monty, you have someone who has worked hard for a second chance.

He is 53 and has been given a modest contract by NHL standards.
He deserves to get that respect from fans.

That means no jokes or ridiculous comments referring to what happened in Dallas.

I really hope posters here don’t make the same types of comments that are all over social media.

Cautiously optimistic. Like what I'm hearing here and in the media, his brief stint in Dallas was good, and his record elsewhere is impressive. Still has it all to prove at the top level really, but nothing wrong with that. He'll be super-motivated to succeed. Glad to see fresh blood and fresh eyes.

This hire really emphasises that Sweeney felt Cassidy was average/poor in getting the most out of younger players, and he has purposely brought in someone with a strong reputation in that regard to try and address this supposed issue. Well we will see. If the likes of Studnicka, Zboril, Steen etc. really start flourishing under Montgomery, then Don will have made his point. If not, Cassidy may be vindicated. Interesting to see how that plays out.

Tough job ahead for Monty, but wish him all the best - good luck!

I wonder who the Bruins hire to fill in the vacant assistant coach spot

Monty probably has a big say on it. I wonder if he will bring in Rick Bowness.... but would Neely/Jacobs be cool with it

The Bruins under Jacobs and Sinden have shown compassion in the past.

I have no doubt the Bruins have designed an ironclad contract that if Monty slips the contract is void. I am also certain there are incentives in the contract as well.

Next season the Bruins project to be at best a bubble playoff team - They 'could' crack the Top 3 in the Atlantic but given they will play the first 2 months shorthanded that will be a reach. If they finish 4th in the Atlantic they then compete with Metro teams and that is assuming they are not passed by Buffalo, Detroit, or Ottawa.

I like this. Much better choice than Quinn imo.

Now the big question remaining for me is behind which door will Monty find a center to play with Hall (barump - bump , it's the off season I had to :))

Given his troubled past I’m sure Monty knows if he’s not successful in his first year or 2 he will probably never be a head coach again

I think he’s gonna come in with a ton of energy and passion he’s been given a second chance he’s gonna work his tail off to be successful

The boys are gonna wanna play for him and buy in

I feel great about this hiring

Swayman will be a Vezina finalist under him

I think it's clear what this move is about - luring Seguin back.

View attachment 563754

I know you are being sarcastic, but there is no chance in hell of Seguin wanting to come back to the Causeway St. Boys Club who kicked him out over bs about him being "immature" because he was doing what any early 20s male would do. Especially when tweedle dee and tweedle dum still run the front office.

If I'm Seguin and the Sweenius came knocking, I would tell him and Cam to pound wet sand.

Updating my prediction

I can't dismiss that possibility.

Seguin has matured and the fanbase would welcome him back and I think Marchand and Bergie would as well.

II can't see the numbers working

Tyler Seguin signed a 8 year, $78,800,000 contract with the Dallas Stars on Sep. 13, 2018. The contract has a cap hit of $9,850,000.

The question is why would Seguin come back to a front office who gave up on him and treated him like he was a locker room cancer when he was just behaving like a kid in his early 20s? If I were Seguin I would say no and certainly not for a salary discount to make the numbers work. There's no reason for Seguin to play ball with the franchise who smeared his name in the media after kicking him out the door.

I honestly don’t know how this makes Boston better vs Boston with Cassidy.

It feels like a step down
