I haven't really been following training camp yet but I don't think it will shake out that way. I think Maurice is using the old goats as hurdles and he's challenging Vesalainen and Gustafson to clear the hurdles. Maybe I'll sweat a little if Lewis actually gets a contract.

Gus is already on the B squad, destined for the Moose, maybe he moves up, but seems unlikely. Suess, who is in the main group, is probably going to get a chance first. Vesalainen is being challenged, but I don't see where he wins a spot off the hop. Especially if Copp and Harkins are the LWs ahead of him. But predicting the future is not my specialty, so you have to see how it plays out.

I'd say there is as good of a chance of Laine being traded as Lowry centering the 4th line.

The Jets didn't hire Dave Lowry to demote his son.

It's going to be a 2+1, and 4th line of special teams players to start. That's a guarantee.

The best chance you have a getting a 4 line team, in my estimation, is to bring Roslovic back and put him in the 4C spot with Apples and Harkins, and have Copp-Lowry-Lewis as your shutdown defensive line.

I've heard this suggested around a few places. Rosie is an RFA so he is free to negotiate a contract with any team. Not sure why a team would insist the Jets sign him to a contract first when that team could just negotiate it directly, then consumate a trade.

I have us re-signing all of Lowry, Lewis and Stastny. Perreault, sorry, no room. He’ll sign league minimum elsewhere and fight to stay in the league.

If Harkins or Appleton go in the XD, I think you just see Vesalainen take their spot. If Stanley goes then we lose some depth at D, but not much changes in the starting lineup.

Suddenly, our wing depth is in trouble. An injury to a Connor or an Ehlers handcuffs us pretty badly. But, I’d rather have weak winger depth than centre depth. If Scheifele goes down with an injury, Dubois can handle the top line, which isn’t something we’ve had the luxury of before.

I have a hard time saying Lowry should be on the 4th line, when he is better than either Harkins or Appleton. I'd hate to lose him because we didn't use him right.

If we wanted to play 3 scoring lines though, another thought I had was putting Lowry up with Scheif and Wheeler. He would be able to handle the centre matchups down low, that Scheif isn't as strong on.

Mix it up so that it's 3 lines of attack

I love the idea of running Scheifele, PDL, Stastny and Lowry down the middle, and the Jets have enough wing talent to make it happen.

Settle down folks. If there is one thing (I believe) we learned last night it's that Lowry is staying as 3rd line center and being reunited with Copp. Statsny will move to the wing on the 2nd. My hunch is CSW being hard matched with McJesus was a result of Paul not trusting Frenchie and Apples defensive play. Once Lowry/Copp are back together they will start seeing those matchup again imo.
