Yes, he is. But what I was actually commenting on was why don't the Leafs trade Nylander directly to the other team that the Jets were going to flip Nylander to for a young RHD anyway?

But for Philly, we need Sanheim to become that 2nd pairing Dman behind Provy way more than we need Nylander, since we have Voracek, Konecny and Simmonds at RW.

It's just a case where need matters more than value.

Certainly an option.......but as some of the senior/good Leaf posters have stated as recently as yesterday Liljegren doesn't bring the idea skill set even though he's skilled. Who knows, maybe Leafs want that more phyiscal defensive proven top pairing guy now, while they hope Liljegren can earn a top 4 RHD role.....then ship out Z & his contract. Tell will tell.......as first post stated its summer we're all bored.

Even if there is a "negotiation" problems, Nylander is under Leafs control for five years. Highly unlikely he is going to retire from the NHL and play in Europe. Don't we hear this every hear every year when a RFA has signed, folks get all panicky that the team is going to lose a player.

Not a single person in this thread has stated that though......Eklund likely means in all his fictional options players stated as the base only.

Actually a three-way trade could potentially work with those teams
Jets acquire Sanheim
Leafs acquire Trouba
Flyers acquire Nylander
(those are the main pieces, others could be added to even all the values, plus potentially signing Trouba first etc.)

it doesn't work for Philly. they need D, the last thing they need is another forward, especially one due for a big raise. Trouba might make some sense, but not Nylander. Flyers have way too many forwards as it is.
