I was under impression many Jets fans didn't want him re-signed. Regardless of his past, without Buff in the lineup, what he's gotten this team to do with help from Hellebuyck is great. They have a shot at playoffs, if they get in, that'll be some story.

I personally think hes probably near the end of shelf life in Winnipeg so I find the move somewhat questionable. That being said, hes done a pretty good job with the Jets this year. They have overcome a lot. I think in previous years though, another coach may have gotten more of our the roster (which was very good).

With coaches I dont think extensions mean a whole lot because they get hired/fired all the time regardless of how many years they left. I only worry about Winnipeg a bit because they just dont seem to really like to toss money away, so I think hes going to be their coach for the foreseeable future (for better or worse).
