wait don't jets fans unanimously hate him? lmao
I don’t hate him, and I do think he gets crapped on a little more than he deserves. Having said that, there are many other coaches, some are available that I’d rather have

Can a Jets fan explain why Ehlers will want out?

I infer he gets poor ice-time/mis-used?

He hasn't been the team's best goal scorer in two years. This year he's on the top line, the #1 PP unit, and has taken a ton of shots. What gives? That's right-blame everyone but Laine.

Lol. That's easy. Our doofus coach has been destroying his confidence and is trying to turn an elite sniper into a defensive specialist. He plays him with linemates he has no chemistry with until he's forced to make a change throguh injury. Our PP is stagnate and predictible. Teams take away the pass to Laine because there's no threat to score from the other half wall.

What coach would reward a 44 goal scorer with 2nd line minutes and a centre he has no chemistry with? Answer: Paul Maurice.

Literally four posts above yours.

Also, there is plenty of discussion and underlying analysis in the Ehlers thread on the Jets boards, if you are interested.

You can argue, the Jets have too many elite wingers, and too few elite centers and defensemen, but that's another story.

Cheveldayoff should be fired.

Outside of 2018, his tenure has been average or worse. Now he re-signs a coach that clearly is not working out anymore.

Whats hilarious about Maurice is he's going to end up high on the all time wins list and may very well end up without a Cup, which would be a first.

Maurice has 2 wins in his 6(?) year tenure with the Jets. Gallant had 3 wins in his 2 year tenure with the Knights. One is significantly better than the other.

I agree mostly, but your post had no context so I took it at face value.

That's 3 playoff wins in Gallant's entire career though, not just with the Golden Knights. He didn't win a series with Florida either.

I was under impression many Jets fans didn't want him re-signed. Regardless of his past, without Buff in the lineup, what he's gotten this team to do with help from Hellebuyck is great. They have a shot at playoffs, if they get in, that'll be some story.

Be horrible at 5v5 but hang onto the playoff race because the West is on pace to have the worst wildcard team since the realignment?

Jets have had one amazing season during his reign. I mean he has been decent, but not sure why the Jets are so loyal to him in an age where coaches have such short leashes...heck, Gallant was just fired not that long ago and he brought an expansion team to the bleeping Stanley Cup finals two years ago!

Patience and expectations just aren't universal in the NHL. Obviously the Jets see something about Maurice they find enlightening and believe he is the man to bring them to the promised land.

Yeah, seems like they will wait 120 yrs for PoMo to get his systemto work?
