Not surprised. Not disappointed in the man himself, but disappointed with how it ended. Still one of the best of all-time and it was beyond impressive to watch him continue to be so effective well into his 40's.

Wish him the best going forward, no matter what he ends up doing.

Thing is it appears to me he doesn't want to pay the price anymore. When he signed with us, he admitted he hadn't trained in the off season and would need time to get into shape, he missed the preseason and some games all because he didn't want to pay the price over the summer because he didn't know if he would find a job in the NHL. To me that's a huge warning sign.

Holy bananas. Someone claiming Jaromir Jagr not willing to pay to the price to play and not willing to train. I never thought I hear that one.

Its not true. Jagr was training daily in Floridas gym all summer because he had been promised a contract there after the expansion draft.

Then Bob Boughner arrived and said he did not want Jagr, and after that I assume Jagr could not train specificly for NHL or European hockey which is a different type of style since the size of the rinks.

Also, Jagr had no pre-season games and was starting to get the rust off, when he got hurt. Then he came back too soon and it all went downhill from there.

Flames decision to sign him was a good one, if they had signed him in the summer, it would have been a different story.

Especially bag skating him, at age 46, probably was the cause of the groin injuries. Just unfortunate events. I dont blame Jagr, he played 82 games, 2 seasons in a row. I dont blame the Flames either, just unfortunate events.

If Jagr had got his Florida contract I am sure he would put up 30-40 points easily. He fit in great there and the weather was great for his body. A shame Florida ended what could have been the most fascinating time in NHL history.

Since he won't be under NHL contract would he be eligible for the Olympics?

I doubt it since the Czech team is already set, and he may not be 100% healthy. Plus, he said the last time that he was "retiring" from national team play. So wouldn't expect to see him there, although I personally think it would be great.

I'd love to see him finish the season with PIT then call er quits with dignity.

Which playoff hopefuls or contenders need a PP specialist/sometimes healthy scratch? STL?

If he comes to Nashville I’m buying a jersey immediately!!
The guy needs to break the record for all time games played, whoever claims him will have that honour in the history books forever (or until someone ever breaks it)

You can do it Jagr! Only 34 more games brother!!

Jaromir Jagr: 0.21g/60, 1.25a/60, 1.46 pts/60.
Matt Martin: 0.48g/60, 1.29a/60, 1.77 pts/60.

And just to note, Martin has been a health scratch for the Leafs.

Such a nonsense franchise.

Of course, Jagr was on his last legs regardless of what transpired, but come on.

I held quite a bit of resentment towards Jagr for years, then the Pittsburgh Is Home documentary put all of that to rest seeing the whole picture 360 degrees of how his situation played out and his interview about it. Dude is a living legend, one of the VERY best ever to play the game. I hope he finds a way to still be involved with the NHL or hockey in general the game is better with him in it at any capacity.

Wow - is this actually the end?

Just to be clear - are they allowed to end the contract because both parties want to? (just thinking of all those horrible contracts teams want to get rid of)
