When you're ona shutdown line constantly going up against the best players in the world, possession means quite a lot. For instance that it is pretty hard to get scored on when you drive/own the possession.

Offensively he has underperformed by 20-25ish points thus far, but defensively he's still elite and a pain in the ass to play against.

This is inaccurate for multiple reasons. Mainly because having a positive Corsi/Fenwick doesn't mean you didn't give up a boatload of shots, it just means you had more than the other team did. If you had 25 but gave up 20, chances are that you're still getting scored on. Also, the quality of who you're playing against plays into it as well. If you give up 10 shots and have 15, but your guys average 5% shooting % and the line you're against averages 10%, you're going to be a minus player more nights than you're positive.

Silfverberg has had plenty of PP opportunities and outside of the odd game where he does well there he doesn't really produce much with the extra man. He has a poor one timer, takes ages to wind up for a slapper, isn't overly good on the half wall and struggles to get his shot off in heavy traffic.

Also which forward do you take off the PP for Silfverberg?? We usually go with 3 forwards 2 defensemen on the PP which leaves 6 spots for forwards.

These guys all should be ahead of him:

Getzlaf
Perry
Perron
Kesler
Rakell
McGinn (a rare LHS on our team and the best net front presence we have.
Pirri (another rare LHS and if you've seen him in Florida you'd know that he is an absolute weapon on the PP).

The little time Silfver has gotten on the pp has been with the second unit, the odd 30-35 seconds remaining from when the first left the ice.

Take away 10 seconds to enter the zone and you have 20-25 seconds to make something happen. And that is if the unit is lucky enough to gain entrance to set up a pp.

Would like to try him on the point too. Can't be worse than Bieksa.

So far I haven't been impressed by McGinn.

At all.

Haven't seen enough of Pirri to really have a valid opinion, but we got him for like a 6th round pick, right?

You don't speak for everyone in here. You might not care, but others might.

Regardless, wasting time on simply putting someone down, is beyond me. But if it makes you feel better, by all means, go for it.

Others want opposing fans to come pretend they know more about our team than we do?

Now you're just wasting time being a white knight.

The second unit starts the powerplay about 40% of the time (and gets a full minute or so) so that excuse isn't really valid.

No the 2nd unit (or Silf as a player more correctly) doesn't start on the PP 40% of the time. But that doesn't mean that I'm pleased with his (offensive) play this season. He need to step it up a notch further on.

These are the frw-lines on the PP for the recent 10 games:

DAVID PERRON RYAN GETZLAF COREY PERRY N/A 32.7%
RICKARD RAKELL RYAN GETZLAF COREY PERRY N/A 10.2%
DAVID PERRON COREY PERRY RICKARD RAKELL N/A 9.7%
PATRICK MAROON RYAN KESLER RICKARD RAKELL N/A 6.6%
JAMIE MCGINN RYAN KESLER RICKARD RAKELL N/A 5.6%
RICKARD RAKELL RYAN KESLER JAKOB SILFVERBERG PATRICK MAROON 5.6%
JAMIE MCGINN RYAN KESLER JAKOB SILFVERBERG N/A 4.1%
JAMIE MCGINN RYAN KESLER MIKE SANTORELLI N/A 4.1%
DAVID PERRON RYAN GETZLAF NICK RITCHIE N/A 2.6%
JAKOB SILFVERBERG ANDREW COGLIANO RYAN KESLER N/A 2%

Exactly how do you give up shots when you have the puck?

Corsi doesn't actually = possession. It's shots for vs shots against. Having a high Corsi means you outshot the other team, not that you actually out-possessed them. And it doesn't say in any way shape or form how many shots you actually gave up.

He and Kes were the best Ducks on the ice tonight (honorable mentions to Getz and Lindholm). Fitting that they would break Winnipeg hearts again.

The last 3-4 weeks he has started to heat up, a lot better than the first 50 games of the season.

Hope he continues to grow, especially now with Perron out.

Hope he puts more weight and muscle mass on this offseason. He still gets knocked around too much. Lindholm put on weight and he looks a lot more stable. I think Silf could benefit from that and not get knocked off the puck so easily.

Other than that he's been great these last few games. Like its been said before, he needs to be less hesitant to shoot when he gets the puck. With that shot, he'd be most deadly just firing one off as quick as he can. Hope he keeps this offensive spark up!

What a beautiful OT goal against the Jets! Also single-handedly created the Kesler goal with the tenacious forecheck on Enstrom, was easily one of the two best players in the game

We can compare shots against as well if you so wish, but seems like you already have your mind made up and no argument is going to change it
