Quick forceful passes open up a GLORIOUS shot lane. PP needs to take note. There were no slow shovels in that PP

Why did we let Backstrom just weave his way closer and closer with no pressure. That really left the easy chance for Ovie.

Overcompensating for the low pass at the goal line. Wish CBJ could force positioning like that. It was less about CBJ and more about skillful PP. They had lots of players stacked low and we were forced to collapse to prevent short pass-one timer lanes. They got pass to faceoff dot with clear look on net. All she wrote.

Don't take stupid penalties, they know what they are doing.

Edit... should have said Niskanen as MFrone pointed out....same point though regarding permitting the freewheeling Baskstrom

Penalty kill is so beta. Zero aggression. Just waiting around for them to shoot.
Current emphasis on blocking shots. I would like to see more aggressive play to PREVENT shots, myself. Not overzealous "chase the puck" play, but "close the ice" aggression. Don't give them room to work pass lanes so easily. Force puck carrier to choose between 1-2 players and have teammates ready to jump lanes of those 1-2 options.

Could the Jackets get Dubi or Foligno out there on the PK instead of Sedlak?
Sedlak being in defensive position is what kept Ovie from having a nice little rebound one-timer on that last kill. I'd like to see those two out there as well, but the timing of your criticism is a little odd.

He got sucked in too deep on the PP goal, left way too much room between himself and the point guy and it cost them a goal

Beerman is working his way into replacing Sedlak. Limited minutes but making decent puck decisions while out there

The two PPs look like polar opposites. As if one is a top of league PP and the other is the cellar dwellat of the NHL

That would have been the time for the criticism, then - not after a redeeming play that definitely prevented a goal.
